Technical specifications for Jewell Rio 180
Tank...............Jewell Rio 180 with internal filter, heater and lighting unit.
Lighting..........Replaced standard tubes with 1x marine glow actinic and 1x power glow daylight.
Filtration........Standard internal filter retained for extra water circulation and water polishing, Inserted bag of activated carbon into top of filter for chemical filtration, and retained filter sponges for biological filtration and small partical removal.
25
KG of grade A fiji live rock built onto top of alpha coral base rock for biological filtration as well as for asthetic reasons.
Red sea prizm protein skimmer for removal of organic waste products.
Ehiem ecco 2235 external filter with filter sponges for biological filtration, Filter bag with activated carbon for chemical filtration and filter bag with Rowa phos for phosphate removal.
Vecton 15w uv steriliser for neutralisation of any desease causing parasites or bacteria and free floating algae spores.
Two bags of live aragonite sand to seed the tank from the get go.
Circulation.........Water circulation is provided by the internal filter powerhead aimed down and behind the live rock, by the outlet from the external filter by way of a spray bar running horizontally along the top of the rear glass and aimed slightly downward and towards the front of the tank, and by two 402 powerheads located at the rear of the tank behind the rockwork and then piped to the front two corners of the tank with spray bars running vertically from top to bottom and aimed towards each other to cause turbulance at the open centre of the display.
With all powerhead inlets and the inlet to the external filter behind the rock work I ensured adequate flow of water in and around all the live rock. This could be seen by the way the food quickly dispersed throughout the entire tank.
