Technical specifications for 6'x 2'x 2' tank.
Tank..............6'x 2'x 2' (183cm x 61cm x 61cm ) custom made all glass aquarium, with 4" x 4" weir assembly on centre of left hand glass panel.
Lighting.........2 x 250w metal halides with 10.000k lamps.
Filtration.......4' x 18" sump tank with 2 bags of alpha grog ceramic filter medium for biological filtration.
8kg of calcium plus for ph buffering.
Ehiem ecco 2235 external power filter with large bag of activated carbon for chemical filtration and large bag of rowa phos for phosphate removal, also retained some of the filter pads for partical removal and biological filtration.
15w Vecton uv steriliser for neutralisation of any desease causing parasites or bacteria and free floating algae spores.
Shuran jetskim 200 protein skimmer for removal of organic waste products.
Fine filter flos placed in weir to collect particulate matter before it enters the sump tank.
45kg of grade A Fiji live rock built onto top of alpha coral base rock for biological filtration as well as for asthetic reasons.
20kg of aragonite sugar sand for ph buffering mixed with 10kg of coral sand and two bags of live aragonite sand to seed tank from the get go.
Circulation.....Water circulation is provided by a large 1" diameter spray bar running the whole length of the tank under the base rock, this is fed by a 3500 l/hr ab aqua medic Oceanrunner return pump from the sump. Which is more than enough on it's own.
To ensure that circulation above the rock work is adequate I have backed it up with 5 x 402 powerheads, three located on the left hand glass panel, one front and one back and aimed along the front and rear panels, and one on a spray bar aimed directly over the display. There are two over on the right hand glas panel, one front and one back, and both are aimed along the front and rear panels respectivly. They are aimed at each other to create turbulance and ensure a random water flow. I was to invest in a surge controller, but the flow is extremly variable as it is.

perameters
....Amonia               0
                        Nitrite                 0
                        Nitrate                10 mg/l
                        Ph                      8
                        Salt                     sg 1.025
                        Calcium              450 mg/l
I have just bought a calcium reactor and after about two weeks of fiddling about with water and CO2 flow rates I have got it set up and working. I was suffering from low calcium levels of about 380mg/l but have now got them up to 450mg/l . I will be keeping a close eye on this to ensure I have it running properly.
I have just started adding magnesium to my change water as I have discovered that it is vital to corals utilising calcium. I have noticed great results already after only two weeks. My whole tank is looking healthier already and I have also noticed growth in all Inverts.
