About Getting Your Music Played on Our radio Show!

Every Saturday, "INDEPENDENTS EXPOSED SHOW"

We no longer support the RIAA. We bring new, up and coming, and established Indy artist to our radio show. We constantly scout for talent that deserves a break and deserves to be heard and recognized. We've helped many artists get more recognition through internet air play on our rock show, interviews of their bands, helping them to promote their music, websites and upcoming shows.

We add new bands weekly to our rotation during our Independents Exposed Blocks on Saturdays from 5-8PM EST, 3-6PM MST, 4-7PM CST and 2-5PM PST. Time. We also will do live interviews of bands that we play that get requested a lot during our shows.

Obviously, the interviews coincide with listener demand and interest. If we play your music on our shows, it's advantageous for you to stop in the chat and get to know some of the listeners as well as let your friends and fans know that your music can be requested on our shows. The more requests we get, the more your music gets played and the more we turn the world on to your music. However, if we do add you in rotation and after 3 weeks are not getting any requests, your music may be dropped from the playlist. If you are getting alot of requests, the chances of us offering you a live interview are greater. Live interviews are held either over the phone or right here in the studio with the Live Webcam Rolling during the interview. We will help you promote your cds, your website and your upcoming shows during airplay of your music and during the interviews.

We've been getting a lot of requests from bands to listen to their music so rather than us having to retype the info. on this in all these messages, we thought we'd outline how it works here for you.

First, to get you music played on our show:
1) We come across music played on our show through a couple of ways, either we've come across you and have asked you for your tunes to spin on our show, or we have been contacted and we liked what we heard.
2) To be considered for free internet airplay you'll need to submit to us either:
A) A Press Kit
B) Three mp3 files of your best songs.(Keep in mind, it's best to go by listener feedback here rather than what the band feels is the best :) They can be 2 different animals.)
(If in doubt on "B", simply send us what you have and we can decide which ones to spin.)
3) The songs you send must be recorded professionally. This meaning no boombox recordings.
4) Send us your website, both myspace and main if you have one.
5) Please keep in mind, we get a lot of material, if you do not hear right back from us DO NOT start hounding us, LOL. Between Scott and Pam we only have 4 ears, listening to all of the submissions can take time.
6) Please also keep in mind, we are a Rock / Metal show. This means if your music does not fall into one of the many micro-genres of Rock/Metal, your chances of getting played on our show are slim.
7) When we decide to add you to our rotation list, we will inform you as well as add you in our rotations list listed on our page.

In any event, we gotta like what we're hearing. Whether you're Indie, Major, Signed, Unsigned, or just have a demo....both well known and getting to be known alike....

There is no charge for this, ITS FREE. We're simply turning the world on to your music, cds and website. Hey, we're helping you out. What do we need in return?

1) We ask that if we play your music on our show that you:

A) List on your site that your music can be heard on The Scott and Pam Show (Banners will be added here shortly for you to copy and paste on your page).
B) Let your friends and fans know that you can be heard on our show.
C) On occasion, if possible, you stop in our chatroom and say hello to the listeners. This brings great feedback from the listeners in the chatroom, makes them feel a bit of a connection with you and generally generates more friend requests for you, more cd sales and more fans of your music. We point this out to you because it's been tried and tested, come check out some of the other bands that join our shows in the chatroom and see the type of responses they get.

3) If we book an interview with you, we ask that you announce it in your calendar with the date, time and location of the interview.

Not too much to ask for, eh?

In addition, we generally start promoting your interview the prior week of your interview. We'll play a song or 2 of yours the week before on our show as a teaser for what the listeners will have coming up the following weekend. So watch your site hits around that time and probably your cd sales as well.

Special Note: We're currently in the process of creating a banner that you can easily add to your myspace page that will let everyone know they can request your music on our shows. Keep watching here for the banner.

And listen in on Saturdays, 2-5PM PST, 3-6PM MST, 4-7PM CST and 5-8PM EST.

Help Keep free Internet Radio stations Online

Whats Happening

On Friday March 2nd 2007, the Copyright Royalty Board announced new royalty rates for Internet Radio stations. The rates are retroactive to January of 2006.

The new rates are far higher than any industry experts expected. In fact, if they remain unchanged, bankruptcy looms for many online radio stations.

The new rates essentially levy a tax of $0.0011 per performance. Now, that doesn't sound bad does it. But consider this. Each hour, the average radio station plays 16 songs. So that's about 1.76c per hour, per listener. A station with 500 listener average would be hit with fees of $211 per day, $6,336 a month or $76,000 a year.

This amount of money is beyond the resources of all but the very wealthiest of corporations. Many of the internet radio stations are run by enthusiasts and hobbyists. These small stations are the ones bringing new music, and old favorites to you every day. Music you can't hear on corporate-owned terrestrial stations.

Could this be the day the music died?

What can you do?

If you enjoy internet radio, HEARING YOUR BAND ON FREE INTERNET RADIO STATIONS, you need to make your feelings known right now to your representatives in the Congress and Senate. Write to them and ask them to help repeal the decision of March 2nd by the Copyright Royalty Board. It only takes a couple of minutes.

The first Internet "radio station", Internet Talk Radio, was developed by Carl Malamud in 1993. Malamud's station used a technology called MBONE (IP Multicast Backbone on the Internet). Later that year, Austin Arts BBS began broadcasting pre-recorded information for members of the screenprinting community and artists from a Bulletin Board System in Austin, Texas. Austin Arts BBS, originally created in 1983 by Bill Hood was the first online screenprinting community. Hood created the first online radio presence for the screenprinting industry with Screenprinters Radio which featured interviews, stories, tips and tricks as well as music. In 1994, the Voice of America became the first broadcast news organization to offer continuously updated programming on the Internet.

In February, 1995, the first full-time, Internet-only radio station, Radio HK, began broadcasting the music of independent bands. Radio HK was created by Norman Hajjar and the Hajjar/Kaufman New Media Lab, an advertising agency in Marina del Rey, California. Hajjar's method was to use a CU-SeeMe web conferencing reflector connected to a custom created audio CD in endless loop. Later, Radio HK converted to one of the original RealAudio servers.

WXYC (89.3FM Chapel Hill, NC USA) was the first radio station to announce broadcasting on the Internet on November 7, 1994. WXYC used an FM radio connected to a system at SunSite, later known as Ibiblio, running CU-SeeMe. WXYC had begun test broadcasts and bandwidth testing as early as August, 1994. WREK (91.1FM, Atlanta, GA USA) also claims to have started streaming on November 7, using their own custom software called CyberRadio1, although the stream was not advertised until a later date.

KJHK 90.7FM in Lawrence, Kansas, began to stream its live broadcast using CU-SeeMe on December 3, 1994. KJHK was the first radio station to maintain a continuous, live signal over the Internet. This has been verified by the National Association of Broadcasters, Sports Illustrated, and CNN.

KPIG also began to transmit a live, 24/7 feed, in August 1995, first using Xing Streamworks and later switching to RealAudio. Bill Goldsmith, who was KPIG's Operations Manager & morning DJ at the time, and the one responsible for starting the webcast, now operates the popular Internet station Radio Paradise.

WUEV launched its live simulcast in January 1996, also using the Xing Streamworks technology at first, then adding RealAudio and moving from the Xing platform to Windows Media Technologies as equipment (and budget sizes) changed.

The first radio station to stream 24-hours a day in Europe was the UK's Virgin Radio, who started streaming a live simulcast using Real Networks in March 1996.

Tuning in to a broadcast like a traditional radio is not possible on internet, so finding different broadcasts has to be done with a search engine or a website that collects on-line radio broadcasts.

In 1996 GBS Radio Networks, founded by radio veteran Guy W. Giuliano, was one of the first to launch an internet radio programming service. The firm syndicated two commercial formats, hip-hop station BombRadio, and hard rock format LoudRadio. In 1998, GBS was purchased by Kent Kiefer's eMusic corporation in a highly publicized cash and stock deal. In 1999, LoudRadio.com became the first online radio station to be syndicated on a commercial broadcast station via KLOD-FM in Flagstaff, AZ.

In 1999, one of the first University/College stations to operate was in Antigonish, Nova Scotia at St. Francis Xavier University CFXU.

In 1999 a company called BMP released a tool, the MyCaster, that allowed people without much technical knowledge to operate their own internet radio stations. The MyCaster was a software MP3 player, similar to Winamp, which streamed the music that a person was listening to, utilizing the Mycaster website to list the stream. Like many early Internet radio endeavors, MyCaster succumbed to the dot com bust in 2001.

Peercasting uses P2P technology. Its requirement of communicating a URI before transmission and the lack of a centralized repository of such addresses reduced peercasting's widespread adoption.

Mercora IMRadio, a combination of social networking and Internet radio, streams music in the Ogg Vorbis format. Mercora allows users to webcast music and pays royalties to the copyright collectives such as ASCAP, BMI, SESAC, and SoundExchange.

RadioVague, in 2003, acquired a transportable satellite internet broadcast system and started broadcasting live shows from events and music festivals around Europe using only free and open source software, broadcasting in OGG/Vorbis format using Icecast and Icecast2 servers, their first event being the February 15, 2003 anti-war protest. Since then they have extended their distribution platform to allow both traditional FM radio stations and other internet radio stations to achieve a global audience.

In 2004, one of the more popular torrent websites, SuprNova, partnered with an amateur internet radio group and formed SuprNova Radio.[1]The radio station was operated by an amateur DJ staff, which usually consisted of converted listeners, who worked on a voluntary basis. Much of the content played on the station was gathered from pirated material.
