How We Met...
|
Of course, as most of you know, I (Scott) have worked as a bartender at the Brewery in State College for quite a while. In that time, I'd made lots and lots of friends. Two of these friends were ladies from the Altoona area: Stephanie and Shelby. They'd come down to see the band The Fables almost every week, and, they were very nice girls, so I became friends with them.
After about a year or so, they decided to bring their roommate in for her 21st birthday (2 guesses as to who this is).

LOOK AT 'ER! I mean, how could I NOT be attracted to her?! Right away, I knew that she was for me. And, apparently, she thought the same of me (well, she DID have a few drinks in her!). So, over our next couple of meetings, we flirted, and talked...and talked, and flirted.
So, I mustered my courage, and decided to ask her out. Most people'd say that that's no big deal. But, you've gotta understand how TRULY shy I am...I might come off like I've got tons of self confidence, but, in truth, I'm as timid as you can imagine!!. But, I had my mind set; Friday night, when Jackie came in, I'd ask her out. I even told Rockey about it...that's how big it was!
Well, she didn't show up.
And she didn't show up the next week, or even the week after that.
To make a long story short, it was almost a year before the conditions would be right again.
On Thanksgiving Sunday of 1999, an extremely bizarre set of circumstances brought me to the Nittany Mall. While I was there, I passed the Customer Service booth, in which Jackie worked. Even though I looked terrible, and was in a terrible mood, I stopped by.
Jackie introduced me to her co-worker, Mandy, and, right away, she said, "Oh! YOU'RE Shooter!!" Which made me think...And then, she said, "When are you going to ask her out?" Which, REALLY put Jackie on the spot. but...she didn't object to what she'd said...? So, being in a "devil may care" frame of mind, I said, "How 'bout tonight?"
Of course, you've guessed that she said yes.
And, they lived happily ever after...
