Welcome to my humble web page! Thanks for stopping by for a visit. My interests include embedded microprocessor design, SRAM design, backpacking, linux, vegetarian cuisine, and amateur radio, so I have added some content in those areas.

Backpacking
Recreationally, I enjoy backpacking
a lot. I backpack most frequently to Guadalupe
Mountains National Park, Big
Bend National Park, and the Gila
Wilderness. I also have been to the Wind River Range (Fitzpatrick Wilderness),
and to other areas as well.
In September 2001, I went on a backpack trip with some friends to Guadalupe Mountains National Park to look for the remains of a B-24 "Liberator" that crashed during World War II on ranchland now part of the park. After the trip,
I wrote a brief account of our adventure, which is posted on Mark Boyer's web site, along with some GIFs he took of the park and
the remains of the aircraft.
Here is an account of my 2002 Labor Day Trip to Guadalupe Mountains National Park.

To support myself, I design embedded memories for cache subsystems for the Motorola Coldfire family of embedded microprocessors, including the recently introduced mcf5407. More information is available at Motorola's ColdFire web site
I consider Linux the coolest thing happening in the personal computer field these days. I wouldn't consider using anything else! Linux is an operating system for personal computers. A great thing about it is that it can be downloaded for free, purchased inexpensively on CDROMs or DVDs, and be installed on as many computers as you please at no charge. It's a quality piece of work, not a toy. A great web page for linux enthusiasts is linux.com. For help getting started, linuxnewbie.org is a useful site.
Mozilla is an open source web
browser and email client that blows the doors
off Internet Explorer. It's available in versions
for Windows, MacOS, Linux, FreeBSD, and several other operating systems as
well. It's a free download at http://www.mozilla.org

Vegetarianism
I am an enthusiast for vegetarian
cuisine (and a lacto-ovo vegetarian). Some of my favorite
vegetarian-related web sites include
Mollie Katzen's web site,
the Vegetarian Resource Group, and
vegsource.com.
I am a licensed amateur radio operator. Though I had been
inactive for many years, I recently returned to the air. I am most active on 40m cw. Calls I have held include WN5RMQ, WB5RMQ, NJ0E, and W5ESE. The web site for my station is W5ESE
I am a supporter of the Hamilton Pool Road Scenic Corridor
Coalition, an environmental organization addressing issues of
water quality and suburban sprawl in my area, which is in the
contributing zone of the Barton Springs/Edwards aquifer. Protection
of endangered species is also a concern in this area.
