Species of the Terdalis System

On the planet of Iersia, two sentient species have evolved--the Thsier and the Bakorians.  The two species' radical differences have caused many conflicts throughout their shared history.  One cold-blooded and social, the other warm-blooded and individualistic, they fought a constant war (the "Cleansing") from their bronze age until the start of their industrial age.  Since that time, their ties have grown stronger and their rate of advancement (both culturally and technologically) has improved dramatically.  By the middle of their fusion age, the two governments of the planet coalesced into a one-world government, run to this day half by Thsier politicians and half by Bakorian advisors to the Highest.  Prosperity, standard of living, technological advancement, and general welfare of the population have been increasing at an exponential rate since the start of the peace.  While the two races are still somewhat segregated, animosity between them has become exceptionally uncommon.  Most residents of Iersia have close friends of both species.

The Thsier-Bakorian alliance has provided their world with many advances perhaps beyond the reach of either species individually.  While the Bakorians have had some reservation about certain aspects of technology (e.g., fossil fuels, cybertech), the Thsier have always welcomed technology, regardless of where it came from.  One of the most promising applications is the Tshsim Project (or "heatweave").  Many believe that this technology will someday allow the Thsier to inhabit virtually any environment.

Heatweave:  Cybertech Mass 2, Size 2, Cost 7500 (Good Quality).  Heatweave is a energy network woven together with living scales of a Thsier.  Currently it is exceedingly rare and only available through a black market or from the Thsier Gastha (Space Marines).  It requires a battery pack to power and can regulate the body temperature of a Thsier (negating their Cold-blooded penalties, halving them for Thak).  A nanocomputer is not required, but a 2 kg battery pack is needed to provide the temperature regulation.  The battery can regulate body temperature for 15 seconds in H0, 1 day in H1/2/3, 1 minute in H4, but it melts in 2 seconds in H5.  The major setback to heatweave (in addition to its cost and rarity) is that recent findings show that it cuts the user's life expectency to a quarter of what an active Thsier would normally live.  Despite this, research continues on Thsopla-Meninar C with the Rappkor

By the height of the Iersian fusion age, major mining and living colonies were established on the icy third moon of
Thsopla-Meninar and the hot, mineral-rich planet of Tshia-Caponis.  These colonies were boons to the small groups of
Bakorians and Thsier who did not agree with their governments, beliefs of the majority, or Iersian economic conditions.  Furthermore, a complete Grid connects Iersia and all Terdalis System colonies though a simple but powerful satellite network.

Only a few years after realizing easy solar-system travel, scientists on Iersia developed the first stardrive.  Eager to explore the stars and meet their neighbors, whom they had been observing through advanced telescopes, the Iersians launched their first diplomatic mission forty years ago.  Despite their tremendous cultural differences and violent past, this new age of exploration and prosperity has brought the Thsier and Bakorians closer than ever--most Thsier and Bakorians refer to themselves as "Iersians" (particularly when off-world).

Iersia is currently in the Gravity Age (PL 7).  All items from PL 7 are available.  However, due to the ongoing peace between
the species on the planet, Military or Restricted weapons cost double what they normally would.  Additionally, any attempt to
acquire such weapons meets with a +3 step penalty on the appropriate skill check due to their uncommon nature.
