Each listing is divided into 4 parts: The Name of the Firm, the Nature of Business, Track Location, and Reciprocal Switching. The directory is presented as originally published by the Chicago Great Western Railway. The editor has made corrections in some of the spellings of the firm names which were obviously incorrect: ( i e: Dunham-Bush instead of the incorrect Durham-Bush) located in Marshalltown. State abbreviations have been changed to the standard Postal Service abbreviations.
Some Cities are not listed, most notably Chicago. Chicago was listed in the Chicago Switching Tariff No.22 and supplements therto. (This Tariff is NOT available on this site)
