The
Offshore Pirate
Text
The off shore pirate is one of Fitzgeralds commercial stories and as such doesn't contain as much symbolism or moral as The Great Gatsby.
In the writing of this story Fitzgerald uses conversation to describe the characters and their interactions. Simple short interactions and statements by the characters make up the majority of the story with breif descriptions of the surroundings in between.
The best part of this story is the ending which is completly unexpected. According to Fitzgerald the ending line is the best that he had ever written, and it is true.
This short story was put into the collection called Flappers and Philosophers. It was originally published in a new paper.
