Child Labour
What is child labor?

Child labor is when a child isnt in school. But that is now. When child labor first existed in the United States, it was a way to save money-hiring workers. But a big lost in human life. When children worked, the employers think it was a good deal, they give income to the children (who usually get less than what they should get) while the children worked. Children cost less money to hire than adults, and children does better work with their smaller bodies, hands, fingers, etc.

Where is child labor?

Child labor is mostly at Asia, Africa, Latin America, and only a little bit in the United States, Canada, Europe, and other countries that are considered wealthy.  61 % of the children labors are in Asia, 32% in Africa, 7% in Latin America, and only 1% in the countries that are considered wealthy.

Why was child labor, child labor?

Child labor was a way to save money when hiring workers, and the work that some children are good at, with their smaller body parts. For example, young boys would be good in the mine, with their small bodies they can crawl through tunnels and not get hurt. The people who hire workers just want to save money when hiring workers, and children are paid lower than they should have gotten.  While earning a profit and not losing a lot of money for the workers.

What do children who are doing child labor have to do?

Child laborers have to work in agriculture (farming) taking care of animals, planting and harvesting food and work in manufacturing. Some girls are domestic maids, and being a maid includes the risks of being a maid.

Reasons for you to care:

You have to wonder, if you were a child who was working in a glass factory or maybe a cigarette factory, or a brick kiln, how would you feel? I would feel pain, anger, hatred, tiredness and hunger. Maybe some fear too. I would want someone to bring me out of my life time prison, only thing is that I didnt do anything wrong other than be a child. You dont want a child to do a job that an adult should have been doing all along. Youre just putting that child in a place where he/she doesnt belong.  Youre hurting a childs life just by putting the child near a machine to work for hours at a time.

Things you can help do to help stop child labor:

Try to spread your opinions about child labor, and let more and more people know that there is a thing called child labor that is ending many, many childrens lives a time too soon. Be supportive to an anti-child labor group and join the group to help out.
