All My Children:  Two Major Characters Out!

It's official: All My Children will be losing a pair of Maricks this summer.  A show rep confirms for Soaps In Depth that Wildwind marrieds Dimitri (played since April by Anthony Addabbo, who assumed the role vacated by Michael Nader) and Alex Devane Marick will be written off of the AMC canvas in early July.

Addabbo stepped in as Dimitri when his predecessor was sidelined by legal woes; Hughes, meanwhile, has been doing double-duty as Alex and Anna since early March.

Hmmm, how will Edmund and Anna handle being all alone at Wildwind...?

AMC Names Head Scribe

Veteran Soap Writer Richard Culliton (General Hospital, Another World, co-creator of Port Charles) has been named head writer of All My Children beginning July 16.  Culliton most recently was a script writer for Days of our Lives.

Culliton also wrote for AMC, brginning in 1993; sources say he was involved in the evolution of the characters at Wildwind.

Angela Shapiro, president ABC Daytime, said in a statement, "His talents will undoubtedly further our long-standing tradition in presenting compelling and socially relevant storytelling."

My comments-Culliton was writing for GH during Robin and Jason Part 1, my favorite part, so he is very familiar with the character of Robin and her history.  Also he created the Wildwind stories so hopefully he will want to continue them.  He is another person we should add to the campaign of people to write to.

Dear Soaps,
Can you tell me why Robin and Anna's storyline, which originated on General Hospital, has now taken up on All My Children?  Are the characters ever going to return to GH? Thank you. iXS942 and Golikedis

Dear S942 and Golikedis,
Much like yourselves, Robin and Anna fans were happy to see the long-awaited reunion of Robin and Anna this past May, but were puzzled that it took place in AMC's Pine Valley.  The official word from GH executive producer Jill Farren Phelps is that the characters' "presence in Pine Valley (were) needed to develop story there."  Kimberly McCullough, who plays Robin, has said in recent interviews that she would be interested in resuming the role for an extended period of time.  If that does happen, it's highly unlikely to happen any time soon on GH.
"We have no immediate plans to bring Anna and Robin to General Hospital."  Phelps tells TV Guide Online, "but that doesn't mean never. (Delaina Dixon)
