The meeting of Alex Jomarr and Jenny Therin was not exactly your perfect meeting. In fact, they got off to a disastrously bad start. At the start of the final year of school, Alex was introduced to the class. His family had had to move to Saffron City because of his fathers workplace being too far from their original home in Viridian, and Alex had been studying there until this point. Already, he was an outcast to the rest of the class. Although he is normally cheerful, he was nervous when he started, for obvious reasons. Nerves disappeared quickly, and he made friends with a few classmates.
Alex and Jenny were complete opposites. Jenny seemed to have most of the world on her side; she was that popular, whereas Alex had only a few friends and everyone else dubbed him as the new kid. They did not associate at all, and Alex got the distinct impression Jenny was looking down on him. The two seemed so different; Jenny was from an amazingly rich family, whereas Alex was not, the class favored Jenny as the one most likely to become a pokemon master, and Alex did not even come close. If it were possible, the two would have got even further apart.
When the school term ended, Alex left on his pokemon journey, as he had always wanted to. He obtained his starter pokemon, an Abra, from Professor Sassafras, and set off.
On his journey, Alex only captured a few pokemon, his favorite type being the Psychic type. Rex, his Abra, had evolved into a Kadabra recently and Alex was feeling good. Until he spotted Jenny, that is.
Oh, great. She is bound to challenge me, and win most likely. Knowing her, shes probably got something like a Dragonite or a Gengar from somewhere. He muttered under his breath.
Kadabra! <Bring it on!> came the confident reply of Rex, standing by his side.
Jenny however, seemed not to notice the boy and his pokemon, just looking at the floor, trudging back to town. She seemed unhappy to Alex, and being the kind-hearted person he was (and still is), he greeted her, not wanting to see a girl upset.
The two got talking, and though Jenny did not recognize Alex to start with, the two eventually shared tales of what had happened since school. Jenny had a very sad tale to tell. Her aloof attitude while at school turned out to be a big act. Jenny was, in fact, from a broken home. Her mother had brought her up since her dad had left, when she was only four years old. She had become popular with her fake attitude as a way of forgetting her real life. When it came to pokemon however, a fake attitude did not help, and she only had her starter (a Jigglypuff), a Nidoran and an Oddish.
Comforting the girl, Alex asked if she wanted company. Jenny accepted his offer, and they continued their journey together.
Both trainers were happy, and Jenny became at least as successful as Alex was. The two entered tournaments, and although they never won any, their experiences brought their friendship closer together. The two eventually got married and settled down in their hometown of Saffron.
Their first and only child was born a little over a year after, and they named him Richard, after Alexs father. This became shortened to just Rick, or sometimes Ricky.
Young Rick quickly exhibited signs of mischief as he was growing up, with Rex, Alexs Kadabra not helping this. He used to use his psychic powers to push Ricks toys around, keeping them just out of reach, enjoying the fun immensely. Rick, although he had fun too, secretly plotted to get the Kadabra back someday. The only prank he could really pull on his dads pokemon was to hide his spoon. And hide it he did, while the psychic pokemon was sleeping. And where better to hide a spoon? With other spoons! Rick hid the spoon among the others in the cutlery drawer, and when his parents awoke next morning, they found Rex among a heap of spoons on the floor, examining each one, to find which one was his.
As Rick grew up, it became obvious that he was smaller than most other boys were his age, and others teased him frequently because of this. It always seemed, from the age of about 11, that he looked about four years younger than he actually was.
Ricks pranks only got worse as he got older, as they proved extremely popular with the others at school. Even though others teased him for his small stature, he became friends with almost everyone, except some of the teachers. Others knew Rick as Little Rick, Tyke or Rascal, although adults mainly used these last two. He became the leader of a group of like-minded boys, although he was the one doing all the tricks, while the others learned from him. Ricks pranks ranged from making silly noises during tests and blaming it on someone else, to putting glue on the teachers chair, to flooding the toilets. Eventually, the entire school knew he was behind all these pranks, even the teachers. They ended up laughing with him, since discipline did not work, and Ricks Tricks were non-lethal (thankfully).
The teachers liked Rick because of his keen mind, too. He did not pay much attention in class, but when he did, he made up for the time when his mind was wandering. Rick was (and still is) fond of riddles. He loved puzzling his teachers when they could not figure out the answers. One of his favorite riddles was the -GRY Riddle: Think of words that end in gry. Angry and hungry are two of them. There are three words in the English language. What is the third word?
This riddle puzzled everyone, and he only told the answer to those in his group
All those at school were relieved when Rick left for his pokemon journey.
Rick secretly hoped to get an Abra like his fathers, from the pokemon professor, but he was happy with what was available, a Machop, which he named Zack. This pokemon, like all others of its kind, was incredibly strong for its size, and Rick felt an instant affinity with the little powerhouse.
It seemed Zack shares Ricks sense of humor too, as he watched with gleeful eyes as Rick stapled the professors notes to the desk before he left.
Rick has begun his pokemon journey, not only to catch and train pokemon, but also to have a good time while he is doing it. He intends to have lots of fun on his travels, and his playful attitude will play a big part in this.
What is your character like today? Personality, likes, dislikes, etc. How does he interact with others?
Rick is an oddity. He is generally cheerful, through all kinds of weather. He is friendly to almost everybody, and is very outgoing. He tends to get to know all about any friends he meets, some may reason that this is how he knows what pranks to pull on different people to best effect. He has not met any fellow pranksters yet, but if he does, he is likely to try to learn from them if possible, or maybe even see them as a rival. The only people Rick does not like are those who take his jokes badly, that is, as anything other than jokes. If someone laughs with him, like he himself would, he will want to become friends with them as it shows they have a sense of humor. He especially likes pokemon with good capabilities for tricks, such as psychic and ghost types. He is becoming more interested in girls of his age as he grows up, whereas before he only associated with boys. Ricks jokes are not limited to being practical jokes; he likes anything that makes him laugh, and likes riddles, as they make him think.
Even though he may appear childish, Rick is still sensible, he will not get himself into any situation he cannot get out of, and he will especially avoid getting on the wrong side of the law.
Does your character have any special powers? If so, please detail them well.
No. For a human, is this surprising?
Please give us a sample description of what your character looks like.
Ricks size would suggest he is about 10 years old, but he is actually aged 14. He has black hair and green eyes. His nose and cheeks are dotted all over with freckles, and his typical childish smile is usually present, becoming a grin when he is mischievous. His hair is becoming long, with a fringe at the front. Rick wants his hair in curtains, but it never wants to stay like that, always falling back into a straight fringe. Consequently, one of his mannerisms is running his fingers through his hair. He typically wears his blue shorts in summer, but he wears navy tracksuit bottoms in winter. All year round, he wears a white t-shirt and blue jacket. Typically, he has his small green backpack slung over one shoulder, containing his pokedex and spare pokeballs, as well as clean clothes, his food, money and his pocket-knife. He keeps his current six pokeballs on the right-hand side of his belt.
Write a short profile, as you would like to have it appear in your +finger. (A profile is 4-5 sentences telling about your character's history, personality, and any general information.)
Rick is a young male trainer, who wanders the world as many others do. Born and raised in Saffron, he has a cheerful and playful attitude. Having a history of playing pranks on nearly everybody he has made friends with, however, people are generally cautious around him. If you want to be friends with this tyke, be prepared for some fun!
(For trainers only) Which pokemon would you pick for your character's starter pokemon? Why?
Zack, the Machop, since it has amazing power for its size, and that is what Rick likes to believe about himself. This one also shares his sense of humor.
