Saffron Road - Route 6: Orange Road

This stretch of road between Saffron City and Vermilion City is often referred to as Orange Road. No doubt it has something to do with the two orange trees that stand next to each other right by one side of the path. They are rather unusual, and they're the only trees for about a half mile. The wild grass retreats for a few feet around the base of the two trees. Some orange peels litter the area around the trees. The fruit is probably a great attraction for pokemon. Then again, it could just be that some passerby decided to stop for a snack. Trainers might find it wise to stake out the area; with all this tall grass about, there's no telling what types of pokemon might venture forth.

The sky is clear brilliant blue and there's a light breeze from the west. It's hot. Butterfree fly through the heated air, headed for the ocean. In the forest, the deep green leaves of the trees and bushes rustle in the breeze, which provides welcome cooling from the heat of the blazing sun. While at the coast, the sea sparkles in the brilliant sunlight, the waves rolling merrily against the shore.

It is a warm and sultry summer day, though faint hints indicate that fall is just around the corner. Orange Road appears deserted today and few people seem to be traveling down the path. On either side of the road, tall grass works its way out into the horizon. There are very few trees here. There are, however, two orange trees growing peacefully here, the wind blowing through them and gently ruffling their leaves. They say it is a good place to watch for pokemon, but how many trainers really make catches here is uncertain. Heading past noon, the sun blazes down on the Saffron area and offers little encouragement for travelers.

The sky is clear brilliant blue and there's a light breeze from the west. It's hot. Butterfree fly through the heated air, headed for the ocean.

Once again, the Orange Road is graced by the presence of Scythers. Two Scythers, one large and one small are darting from tree trunk to tree trunk, seeking the shade and chasing each other along the length of the road. Another two beings are following the green bugs, also one large and one small. This are Rick and Zack, trainer and Machop. Rick is dressed for the weather as usual, his white t-shirt and blue shorts keeping him as cool as possible. <Good, little one!> the older Scyther says, stopping underneath one of the orange trees. <Woo! I did good! I did good!> the younger one replies, jumping with excitement, his wings buzzing at every leap. What did he do well? It is hard to tell, unless you are a Scyther, but it is obvious that the older, more experienced one is training the youngster.

A Katerwaul slinks closer, bright eyes all ablaze, so whisper a prayer and start that save! (Saving!)

A pair of deep green eyes open among the branches of the orange tree. While they are small and slim, the branches are also sturdy. They trees bare a thick canopy of leaves so rich in color that the thirsty grass is left envious. In some ways obvious, yet in others, well hidden, a pokemon rests in the crook of a branch, draped like a carcass. When the branches sway in the breeze, four dangling legs join it. From above, a predator watches the newcomers with interest, lips parting slightly in a grin. One would have to be really looking for something to actually find the creature that has been lurking in the tree and sleeping in its shade. The Tigrynx watches for now, nose wrinkling with interest as she wills every inch of her body to be still and silent.

<You may rest, for now. You have earned it.> Blade nods, drawing himself up to his full height. Turning to the human close on his tail, he nods once more, indicating his readiness for something. Rick understands this signal, even if he can't yet understand the words of the Scyther. The trainer unclips a pokeball from his belt and enlarges it, aiming the device at the bladed bug. The typical red beam snaps out from the round button, absorbing the Scyther into it and withdrawing him into the red and white orb. The younger Scyther seems happy enough to remain out, but the Tigrynx in the tree above might find her rest disturbed pretty soon. <Ooh, can I have a thingummy please? Orange?> Dagger asks Rick, his face expectant. After a translation from the Machop, Rick can finally understand the request, and he folds his arms. "Sorry, you ate the last ones yesterday! You know that!" At this, the trainer finally realizes where he is. "Oh! Yeah, you can get one if you like!" The Scyther nods happily and his wings begin to buzz once more. Slowly and shakily, the bug begins to climb in altitude, up into the tree that is already occupied, unbeknownst to him.

Those sparkling orbs widen and the lips of the Tigrynx part in the faintest of hisses as her rest is suddenly invaded by a noisy, and fast approaching creature. Thinking fast and worried about saving herself from the strange, buzzing creature, Rix rises on the branch and readies herself. Bunching up on the limb, the feline perches, ears pinned back and more than just fangs showing as she follows the assent of the bug type. This Tigrynx has never come across a Scyther, and therefore, isn't sure how to react to one, all be it the smaller of the two. As soon as it gets nearer to her limb, Rix gives a wiggle and launches from her perch with a loud and exaggerated yowl. She attempts to ricochet off the fluttering Dagger in order to launch herself safely away from the tree and her attacker.

A Katerwaul slinks closer, bright eyes all ablaze, so whisper a prayer and start that save! (Saving!)

Poor Dagger doesn't know what hit him. Then again, neither does Rick or Zack, as they have never seen a Tigrynx before. <Waah!> he calls out, trying to defend himself with his blades. Unfortunately, this only serves to cover the Scyther's eyes, allowing the feline to bounce successfully off the bug's exoskeleton. Dagger isn't comfortable with his wings at the best of times, and being hit by a Tigrynx isn't going to help at all. He buzzes uncertainly, quickly dropping back down to the ground. Thankfully he has enough sense to land propery, but he is understandably frightened. After all, he was ambushed while searching for oranges, which didn't happen last time. As his clawed feet touch the ground, the Scyther looks around nervously for whatever struck him. Both Rick and Zack are rather nonplussed, having only heard the Scyther's cry and seen Dagger drop to the ground, looking rather frightened.

A Katerwaul slinks closer, bright eyes all ablaze, so whisper a prayer and start that save! (Saving!)

With her mad escape plan seeming to go pretty well so far, the Tigrynx touches just barely off the bug before using him to further her leap. Fortunately for Dagger, the contact was light. Unfortunatelly for Dagger, Rix weighs around 75 pounds; five pounds more than the average Tigrynx. Hitting the ground with a dull thud, the feline turns to run, then freezes. Rix turns slowly, ears flickering up and down as she decides to actually investigate what has spooked her. She stands not too far from the tree and those standing nearby; a boy, a Machop and a bug. It is all she can do not to simply throw herself on her side and laugh herself silly. Green eyes widen with impish glee and the Tigrynx wrinkles her nose in pleasure. A little bug scared her out of a tree! The feline gives a merry sneeze and then plants her rump for a moment to scratch at a black collar fastened around her neck with a clawed hind paw. She blinks at the trainer in a bored manner, putting on a new mask of boldness; Rix, scared? Never!

The sky is clear brilliant blue and there's a light breeze from the west. It's hot. Butterfree fly through the heated air, headed for the ocean.

Dagger catches sight of the Tigrynx after looking round, and he immediately becomes indignant. <Hey! You scared me! That's not nice!> he splutters, planting his blades into the ground next to his feet. This Scyther is clearly only a young specimen, measuring only about three feet tall, compared with the five-foot specimen that was previously out. Therefore Dagger doesn't even match up to the feline in size, and he ends up having to look up at yet another pokemon. The 'innocent child' routine doesn't really suit the Machop, so he doesn't perform it. Instead, he immediately goes into a defensive pose. <You'd better stay back, kitty. I don't want you or my friends here getting hurt...> he says, standing with his feet slightly apart and his fists clenched. Rick doesn't even know what this is, so his first reaction is to get some information on this new pokemon. He pulls his pokedex from his pocket and quickly aims the device at the Tigrynx, hoping that his actions will not aggravate her.

'Tigrynx' scanned and added into your Pokedex. Type '+pokedex/pokemon Tigrynx' for information on this pokemon.

<Them's the breaks, kid,> Rix tells the pint size Scyther with a toothy grin and a wink of one green eye. Finishing her scratch, the feline rises and saunters a bit closer to the trainer and his defensive pokemon. <Here we go again with that thing,> she mumbles grumpily at the pokedex. The Tigrynx sneers and slips into a body limbering stretch, front legs reaching and clawing and rear end rising to present a very obviously broken tail. The feline stands now before her audience, eyes fixed on them intently and tail raised slightly over her back like a bent bottle brush. She may not be an orange, but she is orange. <Don't you know an orange from something dangerous?> she questions Dagger with yet another sneeze of amusement.

A Katerwaul slinks closer, bright eyes all ablaze, so whisper a prayer and start that save! (Saving!)

<But... I wasn't looking for you, I was looking for oranges... Oranges aren't dangerous, are they?> Dagger explains, slightly more relaxed now the feline hasn't decided to make a meal of him. <So what were you doing in the tree anyway? Were you looking to pick a fight with us or something?> Zack asks, never one to trust someone who attacks first and asks questions afterwards. Of course, the Tigrynx didn't -attack- as such, but it seems that way to the Machop. "Now Zack, I don't think it wants that... If it wanted a fight, it would have done something already." Rick reasons, looking down at the muscley pokemon. <But she -did- do something! Didn't you see? Or were you asleep back then?> Zack replies without taking his eyes off the feline pokemon.

The Tigrynx chuckles faintly and sits down again; sitting tall and straight with a lofty look on her face. <Your pet is right. Had I been picking a fight, we would be fighting,> she muses in a sweet, yet rather cynical voice. <I simply used your friend as a vaulting block to get clear of the tree. Bad form to get caught up a tree by a bunch of weirdoes,> she adds, flashing Zach her best smile with pointy little fangs displayed. Bringing one paw up, Rix begins to wash it coyly with a pink tongue that emerges between her incisors. <All muscle and no logic. Unreasonable creature,> she literally purrs at Zach with a hint of contempt mixed with a strange flirtatious air. <I was resting,> she tells Dagger after a moment, appearing to think more highly of him than the other pokemon. For now, Rick seems to be ignored. The Tigrynx has been caught and turned loose, then wooed and abandoned. She has no great love for humans. An orange paw, freshly moistened, is drawn over her large black ears and she watches them appraisingly.

A Katerwaul slinks closer, bright eyes all ablaze, so whisper a prayer and start that save! (Saving!)

<Well, that's true, I suppose...> Zack is forced to agree, and he unclenches his fists slightly. He seems to be slightly less apprehensive of this new pokemon, even though he hasn't completely dropped his guard yet. Rick doesn't seem to be sure of what to make of Rix. His expression remains undecided, after all, she -is- cute, in her own way, but things could yet turn nasty. Dagger definitely seems to be warming to the Tigrynx however. Generally, only birds prey on bugs, and Rix is no bird, that much he is certain of. <Resting? Oh, I... I'm sorry, I didn't... Up there? That can't be easy, can it?> he enquires, the idea striking the bug as odd. After all, he hasn't yet grasped the fact that lone pokemon have to be very cunning. He was born into the safety of a group, being guarded by several adults at all times, and he has yet to fully understand that less protection equals more danger.

The 'Rynx pauses amidst her washing and blinks at the bug. Cute kid, she thinks, mind drifting to her best friend, Caterpie named Munch. <Not exactly easy, but worth the bother,> she muses, squinting her eyes happily and wrinkling her nose at the youngster. It would appear that Dagger's presence has changed the nature of this encounter. Rix lowers her paw and rises. The oversize female cat gives her coat a small shake to loose its vivid orange hues from any lurking sand and then takes a few measured strides closer to the bug. <You're pretty big for a bug. Had one smaller than you before,> she says, head tipping as she looks the Scyther over. Perhaps the word had isn't the most appropriate word for a predator to use. Behind her, the kinked tail wiggles this way and that, almost is if it were a pokemon of its own and giving orders to the Tigrynx.

Dagger's reaction is just to cock his head slightly, a typically childish expression of curiosity. He straightens up to his full height as Rix examines him, proud of his growing physique while eager to become as big as Blade. <Well, I'm little compared to the others... Nearly everyone in my tribe was bigger than me, but my grandmommy let me come with Ricky to see the world! And there's two others with me, and they're both bigger than me too, but I'm going to be big soon too!> he says, once again hardly stopping for a breath. He indicates how tall he is going to be by reaching a blade skywards. <I'm going to be -that- big, I am!> he says, grinning with pride and anticipation. His translucent wings flutter slightly as he lowers himself back down to a more comfortable and natural position. <He's a young 'un...> Zack explains, as if this wasn't already clear to the Tigrynx. Rick, not being able to understand any parts of the conversation but the words said by his Machop, stays out of it for the most part. Not really having much to do, he lets his legs bend at the knees and he flops down to rest on his ankles, balancing on the balls of his feet. Sure, this isn't the most stable position, but the boy has made the assumption that if the feline were hostile, she would have done something by now.

A Katerwaul slinks closer, bright eyes all ablaze, so whisper a prayer and start that save! (Saving!)

For the first time, something flashes in the feline's eyes as the trainer flops down. There is a shift in her body language and her ears flicker back before coming forward once more. Her front legs bend as she shies away from Rick, offering a small hiss at the familiarity or calm that he is showing. The Tigrynx does little more, standing her ground now and keeping an eye on the human. <Dunno why you'd want a human. Horrible things,> Rix grumbles to Dagger absently, letting a faint smile come to her black rimmed lips once more, though it seems somehow forced. About her neck, silver studs flash from the black collar. <Big bug, must be nice,> she muses, wishing to run and play with her old pokepals under the watchful eye of her loving trainer, Dana. What had Rix done to deserve to be turned out so suddenly. <I didn't even get to say goodbye,> she mutters softly and then turns, starting to walk away. The feline's tail hangs limp now and her batty ears drop to the sides, pink nose flushed fuchsia with frustration as she strolls away on her memories.

A Katerwaul slinks closer, bright eyes all ablaze, so whisper a prayer and start that save! (Saving!)

<Horrible? Really? Well, Rick isn't horrible to -me-... He gives me stuff to eat and friends to play with and...> Dagger trails off as Rix turns away, seeing some sadness in her demeanor. As the large feline turns, the sun catches the silver in the collar, drawing Rick's attention in its direction. "Wait... Are you... lost? I mean, you've got somebody... I mean, a trainer, haven't you?" Rick asks, the presence of a collar making him draw that conclusion. Zack however catches the Tigrynx's last words, and he looks up at his trainer as the boy rises slowly to his feet once more. <No... You've not been...> he trails off, not wanting to utter the word 'abandoned'. He's seen it all before. Who knows why some trainers turn their pokemon loose without a word, but sadly it happens all too often. The Machop is no longer defensive towards her, instead he seems to be feeling sympathy for her. He quickly runs forwards towards the retreating cat, but he stops at a distance to appear non-threatening. <Wait! Is there anything I... I mean, -we- can do? Food? Water? Anything?> he asks, turning to make sure his trainer will agree. Of course, the trainer has no objections.

Rix pauses and looks back around at the Machop. <I can take care of myself, thanks,> she says, feline pride taking a pounding. <Never did ask for a human,> she growls under her breath. The brilliantly colored cat heaves a sigh and sits again. One hind foot is raised to scratch at the hot, itchy color once more. Rix looks at the Scyther kindly. <You're a good kid. Gotta keep the human in line,> she says in a soft, motherly voice, eyes squinting in a pleasant feline expression. A faint breeze ruffles the fur of the Tigrynx and she sits, watching Rick with dangerous green eyes.

Zack is a strange pokemon, for sure. Completely untrusting one minute and extremely sympathetic the next. That must be what makes him special to Rick, his adaptability. That and his sense of humor, of course, but now is not the time for jokes. Neither Rick nor Zack are sporting their usual mischievous smiles, a sign that this is a serious matter indeed. The young Scyther is completely lost now. His friends are no longer smiling, and Dagger can't quite understand why. Rick is the only trainer he has ever known, so abandonment is a completely new concept to him. Still, the Tigrynx's kind words bring an insectile smile to his face, and he nods emphatically. <Okay! I will! I don't think I need to, but I will anyway! If anything happens to him, I won't get any more thingummies.... Oranges!> he says cheerfully, his childish innocence plain for all to see. <Oh, I think this fella needs to be watched constantly! That's what I'm for!> Zack chuckles, trying to bring smiles back to the conversation. Trust him to poke fun at his trainer, even at a time like this. Rick doesn't seem to be paying attention however. He seems to be studying the black collar around Rix's neck.

A Katerwaul slinks closer, bright eyes all ablaze, so whisper a prayer and start that save! (Saving!)

For now, the large pokemon remains seated, simply watching the trio with those green eyes. They trace Rick for a moment, noting that he is studying her and then they rest on the young Scyther. She really does like the little one. The feline grins toothily. Then, the gaze shifts onto Zack. She still isn't sure what to make of him. Rix blinks boredly at the Machop and then yawns, showing a mouthful of sharp teeth to match her saber fangs and a long, pink tongue. It must be good to have so little to worry about in life. <What are you looking at, boy?> the feline poses, eyes flicking back to the trainer. For a moment, the hair along her back bristles, is this from a chill, or is the predator taking offense at his gawking?

Unfortunately, Rick can't understand the feline, so he continues to study. Zack again serves his purpose as a translator, looking up at the trainer to find that he is indeed staring at the Tigrynx. <Hey, goggle-eyes! Don't you know it's rude to stare? Especially rude to stare at a lady!> he calls to attract the trainer's attention, giving Rick a friendly punch in the thigh. However, when forty-pounds-worth of muscle punches, even without the intention of causing pain, it hurts, especially to a weak human like Rick. "Ow! Whatcha do... ouch... Er, I was just looking at your collar... It's er... nice," Rick makes his excuses as he rubs his leg. <Oh come on, I didn't hit you -that- hard! Humans bruise -so- easily...> Zack mutters, partly to Rick, partly to himself and partly to everyone else. <So... um... Do you like oranges? I like oranges, but then I like lots of things. Some things I haven't tried... Well, there's probably lots I haven't tried actually... I'm going to become a worrier! Blade is teaching me to become a worrier like him! It's hard but it's fun! I'm going to go back home when I'm big and strong, and I'm gonna find my tribe again!> Dagger spouts, trying to engage the feline in conversation and switching from one topic to the next without taking a breath. Still, he hasn't learned how to pronounce 'warrior' properly...

A Katerwaul slinks closer, bright eyes all ablaze, so whisper a prayer and start that save! (Saving!)

Rix snorts at the little interaction between Zach and Rick and shakes her head, baring her teeth unpleasantly. <Do yah now? Then why don't /you/ try wearing one?> she hisses. The feline turns up her nose at them and instead, focuses in on the kid again. Stalking slowly towards him, the feline flicks her ears and then flops down on her belly, feet tucking up to her chest as she indulges the chatty Scyther. Behind her, the restless tail swishes and bristles. Rix glares over her shoulder at it and for a moment it falls still. <I don't like oranges,> Rix says simply, a cat of few words lately. The feline sneezes in amusement when she catches the mispronunciation. <And an excellent worrier you will be,> she purrs at him, black ears lolling to the side in her own childish amusement.

A Katerwaul slinks closer, bright eyes all ablaze, so whisper a prayer and start that save! (Saving!)

<Nice going there, Ricky... Nah, I wouldn't wear one either... I'd wear one of those things that go around -here- though...> Zack says, drawing a line across his forehead with one stubby forefinger. <Those're cool! Ya know, if ya wanted, I'm sure Rick would take that thing off, ya know. I'd do it meself, but um...> he looks down at his hands, showing his three digits, all extremely thick, being built for fighting, not for dexterity. <...I'm all thumbs...> he finishes, grinning slightly. Rick looks slightly apprehensive of the idea however. Getting his hands close to a large feline, one that has already bristled at him once already, doesn't seem very safe to him. Dagger just beams at the compliment, or what he thinks is a compliment. <Yeah! Blade is a really cool worrier! He can do this cool thing with an orange, throwing it up and cutting it in half as it comes back down! I'm gonna be just like him when I grow up!> he says excitedly, demonstrating the trick with an imaginary orange, throwing it up and swiping through where it would be, looking incredibly pleased with himself.

Something about this enthusiastic bug has touched Rix's hardened heart. Attempting a bold move with the youngster, the feline rises and attempts to walk right up to him. If se succeeds, she then attempts to run a pink tongue along his face. <I miss my Caterpie,> she whispers softly to no one in particular. The feline turns away, whether allowed to anoint his forehead or not and saunters toward Rick. The posture is non-threatening, yet it would still be intimidating. Something is turning in her mind. She'll continue towards unless someone speaks up or he begins to back away. <Some has offered to take it off before. I didn't like them. Take it off,> she states. Leave it to cat to give an order, not ask for help.

Dagger recoils slightly at the warm, sandpapery tongue being drawn across his face, but it is not unpleasant so he doesn't complain. Afterwards, he just looks up at Rix, blinking a few times but saying nothing. A stampede of thoughts seems to be going through his mind, but none of them make it to his tongue. The display of affection, for lack of a better word, causes a sudden silence in both onlookers. They seem to find it odd that a wild pokemon would get along so well with an owned pokemon of a completely different species. Rix's saunter towards the trainer is watched by careful eyes, but neither Rick nor Zack make any move towards or away from the feline. Again, Rick doesn't understand the command, but he can make a pretty good guess. <You heard the lady. The black thing goes!> Zack translates, confirming the trainer's guess. Now comes the hard part... Rick makes his way to Rix's side, kneeling down so he can reach the collar with ease. The trainer searches along the length of the collar, looking for the buckle or popper that usually fastens collars.

Dagger and Zack just watch while Rick works his magic, standing in exactly the same place they have stood the entire time. Zack should be in view, but Dagger is behind Rix's field of vision. Hopefully this shouldn't matter, given the huge slurp he recieved moments beforehand. Rick's fingers easily find the buckle in the mass of fur... Of course, if it had been a popper that fastened the collar, it wouldn't still be there. Working quickly, Rick easily slips the buckle open, sliding the collar free and letting the loose end fall. Rick slides the entire collar free of the Tigrynx's neck and drops it onto the floor in front of her. "There you go! All done!" he announces, as if Rix had no feeling at all in her neck. <Well done! Have a medal!> Zack says, clearly joking with his trainer once again. "Now, it's there if you want to keep it, but if not... Well, it's up to you," Rick finishes, pointing at the length of black fabric on the ground. Perhaps the collar holds sentimental value, but if so, why did the Tigrynx want it off?

The feline gives a hearty shakes as her neck is freed from its constricting collar. Flopping back down on her fuzzy orange rump, the feline brings up a clawed hind paws and gives the slightly worn spot a good scratch. The Tigrynx looks silly as she goes about her pleased itching. Rix's head is tilted to the side and her pink tongue is visible between her teeth as she enjoys the feeling of her claws in a sweaty and slightly matted area. <Mmm,> she murmurs, ears lolling to the side like wilting black bows on her head. Finishing this, the feline licks her lips and rises, looking up at Rick with merry green eyes. Then, the large pokemon attempts to bump into the trainer with her head. It is a friendly maneuver of affection and seeking affection in return, but the Tigrynx is a large and strong pokemon.

A Katerwaul slinks closer, bright eyes all ablaze, so whisper a prayer and start that save! (Saving!)

Rick looks on with pleased eyes as Rix makes up for lost time, giving all the attention that particular patch of fur should have received over the past... however long in an extremely short amount of time. Zack mimics his trainer in expression as well as feeling, and Dagger looks pleased simply because everyone else is happy. The bump of affection is unexpected, and as such it catches Rick off guard. As a result, the relatively short human gets knocked off-balance for a second and he staggers, only just retaining his footing and therefore his dignity. Thankfully the trainer interprets the action correctly and he smiles. "Aww..." he says, the soft-hearted side of his personality showing itself. In return, Rick moves his hand to ruffle the silken fur on Rix's head, between her two black ears. If she lets him, Rick will continue this for a few seconds, having some slight experience with felines and knowing that most tend to like this. Finally, Rick returns to his full height, giving a final parting pat on the Tigrynx's back. "Well, if you don't want to be captured again, you'd better go... Stay out of sight of the road, if you can." Typically, Rick looks reluctant to let the Tigrynx leave, but he's not the sort to force any pokemon into joining his team.

The Tigrynx breaks into a contented purr at the scratching, leaning into the boy's fingers and even moving to guide his hand to where it feels best. Humans did have such nice, useful hands. As the hands retract, Rix will attempt to nibble at his fingers a bit. That would be a Tigrynx for you; having to get there teeth on everything. <Bah, captured,> she sneers, puffing her chest out and standing tall. <I'm no slouch, kid,> she rumbles at him happily, eyes squinted into contented slits. With a merry snort, the Tigrynx trots in the direction opposite of the road, looking back over her shoulder and grinning in her toothy manner. <Today was your lucky day. Not all pokemon around here are so pleasant to people,> she states, thinking of a few that would be happy to stir up some trouble. <Keep your fur clean, kid,> she tells the bug, which actually has no fur. Feline's have the strangest sense of humor.

A Katerwaul slinks closer, bright eyes all ablaze, so whisper a prayer and start that save! (Saving!)

As the feline retreats, Rick just stands there watching her. Not that many pokemon have made that sort of impression. Dagger waves a blade at Rix, sad to see her go. <Bye! Um... I'll be coming back for more thingummies... oranges!> he replies, missing the fur comment entirely. Typical kid. <Well, -there's- a new one... Asking a human for help to be rid of humans... But what she says is true, not many would be like that. Anyway, are we gonna get some fruit, or what?> Zack asks impatiently. Dagger jumps at the mention of fruit, eager to go searching again. "Okay Dagger, I'll race ya! First to pick five oranges wins!" Rick announces, literally jumping into the orange tree, the young Scyther close behind. And so they continue, frantically picking oranges to their hearts content. When the trio leave, the only things to show their presence will be several more orange peels and a solitary strip of black adorned with silver: a symbol of ownership gathering dust.

Aww... Rix seems to have taken a liking to Rick, but she's a wild pokemon at heart. It will take a lot more than one meeting with a trainer to make her want to go with them, especially since she has been betrayed before. Imagine the possibilities: Rick and Rix... A boy and his man-eating feline... ;)
