Fuchsia City: Twincity Beach

The Fuchsia side of Twincity Beach is full of trainers almost at all times of the year, but near chokingly during the summer. The city, famed for its lush tropical settings, is a near boiler pot full of pokemon waiting to be captured. However, tough competition for the pokemon in question effectively puts the chance of capturing anything back to original status, if not worse. The sand, if it's actually visible and not covered by trainers, is a light yellow color. Normally scattered by seashells and the like during the off season, the locals have learned to grin and bear it, often not even attending the beach during the peak hours, instead enjoying the weather farther inside the city.

The party never stops at Twincity Beach! While it might not be a lovely day, the sandy shores are covered with people, pokemon and towels of every shape and size. The ruckus sounds of chatting, battling and beach volleyball can be heard while hawkers sell cold lemonade and soda pop to the hot crowd. In coming clouds dampen the spirits, though there is no sign of rain as of yet. The hot weather still encourages trainers and pokemon to take to the in coming waters that sparkles a dark blue under the cloud cover. A good way back from the waterline there is a large blue blanket dotted by picnic gear and assorted odds and ends. A Ponyta colt tugs at one end of the blanket, chewing it with flat teeth and swishing a bottle brush of flames happily. "Pyric! Pyric, stop!" a teen scolds, jumping toward him and shooing the little equine away from the blanket. A willowy teen in a cream bikini rests her hands on her hips and gives the baby pokemon a look of disapproval. Behind her, a pair of Squitle talk softly. The bathing suit would appear to be modeled after a Persian. In fact, the cream colored top which angles up to fasten like a color about the girls neck fades to a black and a brilliant jewel rests just between her collar bones. "Why me?" Janelle Roberts groans.

Watt? July already? You must be 'lion! Bingo! (Saving!)

The sandy beach stretches out along the coast, all the way to Sunny Town and beyond. Thankfully the cloud cover today is blocking at least -some- of the heat, although it is still warm. Rick is out today, as usual. Nothing keeps this youngster indoors except the most extreme bad weather. The teenager strolls along the beach, careful to avoid anybody who may actually be sunbathing today. Strangely, his pokemon are nowhere to be seen, which is definitely unusual for this trainer. Usually he would be at least chatting with his Machop, Zack, but even he is nowhere to be seen. Wearing his white t-shirt and blue shorts, he certainly seems dressed for the weather, and he is holding a bottle of lemonade, occasionally taking a refreshing swig as he walks. He is walking through the sand barefooted, his sneakers' shoelaces tied together and hung around his neck. An occasional chuckle can be heard from the people on the beach, most probably due to the design on his t-shirt. The white fabric is emblazoned with black block capitals, spelling 'This way up', only they are printed upside down, with an arrow pointing at the ground. It takes quite a sense of humor to be able to wear something like this and still grin back at the chuckles aimed at him. This seems to have been Rick's dad's view, as he bought it for the teen's birthday.

The fiery colt has grown into an obstinate phase and he heaves a snort which brings with it a small puff of smoke. He managed smoke! The stallion to be bucks happily and laps the towel and trainer, tossing up sand. The others sitting nearby grumble and yell and Janelle grins sheepishly. "I don't want to have to put you in your pokeball, so settle down!" she warns him. Behind her, a male Squirtle snickers while a slightly larger female Squirtle looks at the male reproachfully and rolls her eyes. The female water type is toting a large purple purse that appears to be knit. The bag bulges with odd shapes and her arm hovers over it protectively. Laying his ears back, the fire type walks a short ways from the tall teen and soon falls in step with a boy in a white t-shirt. As people chuckle at the teen's shirt, Pyric begins to think they are laughing at him. He holds his head up, lips pulled back in a silly, equine grin and walks next to the boy, eyeing him on occasion and whickering softly to himself. Janelle's jaw drops when she turns to look and she hustles over. "I'm so sorry he's bothering you!" she attacks the trainer and his equine shadow. Janelle bites her lip, large green eyes wavering nervously as she wraps an arm around the colt and tugs him aside. The teen appears to have spent much time at the beach. Her skin is deeply tanned and her cheeks are dotted with light freckles. Long, honey colored hair hangs in double ponytails that are clasped low at her neck with what appear to be metal clasps and they hang easily to her waist. She offers a shy smile, feeling very sheepish. "Hey," she starts, beginning to think she recognizes the lad.

A thick layer of stratus clouds cloaks the sky at mid-day.
The sky is grey and cloudy, and nothing casts a shadow. It's hot, humid, and still.

The boy seems to be enjoying himself as he strolls, seemingly basking in the attention he is getting, even if they are laughing at him. Still, Rick's motto is to 'laugh with someone every day', and he just grins back at the crowd. Taking another swig of lemonade, Rick wipes his brow with the back of his free hand, brushing his errant fringe back as he does so, parting it in the center with his thumb. His attention is drawn away from his audience as the colt trots alongside him, however. A slight look of recognition flickers across his expression, but it quickly disappears again. After all, all Ponyta look the same to the untrained eye, and Rick has only seen a handful of them in his time training. "Hey, boy!" he greets the equine, moving his hand to pat the Ponyta... No, bad idea. Although Rick has learned that the flame does not burn if you know the pokemon well enough, he isn't willing to take any chances. Instead, he moves his hand further down, patting the equine below the fiery mane, on the side of his neck if he'll allow it. "You know, you're stealing my stage! Stiff competition in showbusiness, I see!" he chuckles. He has no doubts that the Ponyta can understand him, but anything that the equine may say in reply will fall on unlearned ears, not owning one himself. As Janelle appears, Rick grins and holds up a hand in greeting. "It's okay, he's not bothering me, honest!" The teenager is definitely the recognizable sort, his shortish stature and cheeky grin being his trademark features. Like Janelle's, Rick's cheeks are covered in freckles, and they even spread across his small, piggy nose. His dark brown hair stays defiantly in a short fringe, however much parting Rick does to it. Rick seems to recognize Janelle too, having met her several times in the past, but a lazy week at home has dulled his memory somewhat. Still, he speaks his mind, never one to let doubt linger in his mind. "Say, I know you from somewhere, don't I? I think we've battled before, haven't we?"

The Ponyta foal doesn't seem to mind a patting at all. In fact, he leans to allow the boy to pat his white neck and reaches out to nibble his arm carefully on its retreat. The foal whickers happily to him, though most likely even Janelle wouldn't understand what Pyric is saying since he is still learning to talk. The little foal is then wrapped up by one of his trainer's long arms and his ears flicker back as if she had rained on his parade. For a moment, one of his small, hind hooves begins to raise. "Don't even think about it," the girl warns him knowingly. The foal grins stupidly. Janelle turns her attention on the boy and grins. "Yeah, I think we have," she chortles. "Janelle, Janelle Roberts!" she offers, proffering a hand formally should he be interested in shaking it. Back at the towel, the pair of Squirtle blink at the athlete as she chats and the little male snickers. <She's talking to a boy!> he laughs obnoxiously. <So, so am I,> the female retorts grumpily and sighs. The other ceases his laughter and gawks at her, and then goes red. <Heh,> he says. Janelle scans the boy and peers at his shirt a moment. "Well now, that is an interesting shirt you have there," she offers with a grin. Her eyes freeze on his lemonade. "Mmm, we were just about to have a bite, care to sit with us for a bit?" she invites, turning and walking back towards the towel while looking over her shoulder expectantly.

Watt? July already? You must be 'lion! Bingo! (Saving!)

Rick smiles and takes Janelle's hand, shaking it once before releasing it once more. "Jomarr. Rick Jomarr, license to paaah-tay!" he chuckles, putting on a fake deep voice for all but the last word. "I -thought- I recognized the Ponyta! Didn't I battle you for first place in Birds and Bees? Guess what I got for second place!" he continues to grin, plucking a single pokeball from his belt and holding it up. Regardless of whether Janelle guesses or not, Rick throws the ball down with a flourish, allowing the device to reveal his prize. Something green. Something big and green. Something big, green and buggy. With two vicious-looking blade-arms. Yes, it is a Scyther. "Say hello, Blade!" Rick urges, but the Scyther doesn't say a word, instead just giving a respectful nod in Janelle's direction and planting the tips of his blades firmly in the sand next to his feet. "Well, he's a Scyther of few words... Anyway, yeah! I was going to stop to eat anyway, and maybe let my team train or eat or relax or something..." The youngster seems to be pleased with even more attention, as if he thrives on it. "Yeah, my dad got it for me on my birthday... I confused him by doing handstands, so the writing was the right way up! Then the shirt fell over my head while I was practicing and I couldn't see, so I fell over and knocked my mom's clay jug off the table... I blamed Rex, my dad's Kadabra... They -still- think it was him that broke it!" Oddly, Rick still grins while relating the tale, as if he also enjoys a bit of mischief too. The teenager follows the girl back towards her earlier resting place, seemingly oblivious of the implications of the two Squirtle. If any of Rick's favorite pokemon were out, they would be making the very same comments too.

While some people love attention, others much prefer to give attention. Janelle is just such a person, thriving in the simple challenge of adoring her friends, berating her enemies and cheering on the enthusiastic class clowns and lively people that keep life interesting. "Yeah, I believe we did last meet for Birds and Bees!" she affirms rather quickly, stopping to see what it is that Rick has. When the Scyther emerges, the girl gives a small start and clamps her hands to her cheeks. "Eep!" she squeaks faintly in surprise. At the bug pokemon's nod, she gives a nervous giggle and bobs her head at him. "Cute!" is all she can come up with. "Chose a free breeding as my prize. You see, my teammate has this adorable pokemon and he said we could breed her! I'm terribly excited! It seems, that while I like tough battling, I also have a soft spot for cute pokemon," she confesses rather sheepishly. "Ayashii is just the sweetest ting! I had this little Vulpix once," she begins and then beams at Rick with a faint blush. "Well, you probably don't want to hear my history as a trainer," she says with a grin and slips back to the blanket in a bouncy manner. Once she gets there, the teen sets to work unpacking lunches from her bag. Then, a thought dawns on her and she blushes again, slipping on a pair of jean shorts before sitting down to pick through the food. She smiles a Rick and wafts a hand across the large towel. "Sit!" she chortles.

Watt? July already? You must be 'lion! Bingo! (Saving!)

Rick chuckles slightly at the surprised squeak, knowing that some people are startled easily. Maybe he should have thought of that -before- he released Blade... "I've got a pokemon in the breeding center too..." Rick says quietly as he sits down as instructed. It is clear that his thoughts have drifted to his little furry companion again for a few seconds, until he snaps himself back to reality. "Er... My Eevee, Prince is there with his mate Anastacia..." he drifts off once more. "You know, mentioning breeding isn't the same without witty comments from my pokemon..." he chuckles, removing all five occupied pokeballs one by one and throwing them into the sand a few paces away. From the orbs emerge an assortment of pokemon: A Machop, a Charmander, two Abra and yet another Scyther. This Scyther is clearly a young one of his kind, being about half the size of the full-grown version behind him. Both Abra exchange nods and promptly vanish, teleporting away from the scene to somewhere out of sight. "They always do that..." Rick mutters, shaking his head as he removes his backpack, rummaging inside for something to eat. The Charmander, Machop and young Scyther all make their way towards the group, hoping for some food too. "Janelle, meet Zack, Afterglow and Dagger. You three, this is Janelle." Rick introduces them, gesturing to each in turn. Zack, the Machop looks at Janelle, then Rick, then back to Janelle again. <What? Sophia's not going to be happy, I tell you! Or are you doing this to make her jealous?> he chuckles, sporting the same sense of mischief as his trainer. "Shurrup you! Not another word or no food for you!" Rick glares at the pokemon, although it is clear he is joking too. "If you can understand him, ignore him. He's got some crazy ideas..." he explains, although a slight blush appears momentarily as the boy makes his excuses.

Janelle dumps a handful of grain and some odd lumps into a dish and shoves it off the towel for the little Ponyta. Pyric gives a swish of his little fiery tail and digs right in while Janelle continues to prep meals. "Oh, yeah, I do think I've heard that before. You're super lucky to have an Eevee. How adorable!" the teen girl coos with a dreamy look before continuing on. "I have a Ponyta mare at the breeders right now. And my Nido will be joining his mate there soon, I hope. Won't that be cute! A whole little pack of little rodents!" she laughs and then prepares two dishes for the little water types who are eager to hustle over and sit down near the trainer. Gazing around at the present company she gives a nod of approval and quickly plucks the three remaining pokeballs from out of her bag to release an Abra, a Nidoran male and a Persian. The suave cat eyes the company and begins to lick his lips. "Puck, we are having guests for lunch, yet that doesn't mean that anyone here is a snack," she rebukes his thoughts as he sits and bathes a paw. Janelle smirks and sends a plate of raw meat mixed with some fort of grain on it over his way. The Abra and the Nido likewise receive their food, the small bunny pokemon curling up in his trainers lap. <I don't think I can eat! All I can think about is her eyes!> he utters in a moony fashion. Janelle smiles at Rick and his Machop. "I don't understand everything he said. Do you have a girlfriend?" she continues on, happy to chat.

The sky is grey and cloudy, and nothing casts a shadow. It's hot, humid, and still.

"Thanks! Yeah, Prince is great! Little bundle of fluff that always sat on my shoulder. I have so many pokemon I want to keep with me, its just a shame there's more than six! But I can't wait to have him back, even if... Well, I just can't wait! It's soon, I think. About two and a half months, Bailey said, so that means one more to go!" Rick continues to chat away as he sorts through his green backpack for something to eat. Anyone would think it was bottomless or something, with the way he continues hunting. The Machop rolls his eyes as the Nidoran brings up that subject again. <Not you too! Has the whole world gone mad?> he exclaims, folding his arms across his chest. Rick nods as Janelle confirms that she didn't understand Zack. "...Uh, no..." he replies to her question. He doesn't even return the question. With all the joking around that he does, it is strange that one subject would make him... scared? This of course starts Zack off. <No, of course not! Him? He wouldn't know where to start! But he -is- swoooooning over a certain someone! Swoooooning, I tell ya! Can ya guess who? I'll give you a clue. S. O. P. H. I. A. spells...> "Zack!" <Wrong! Sophia!> "I am not! She's a teammate, nothing more!" Rick retorts, although he certainly seems redder around the cheeks. <Yeah, what is the 'mate' in teammate for then?> Zack replies smugly.

The Nido perks up and grins at the Mahop. <Hey, I couldn't help it! She nuzzled me all cute and I think my mind broke!> he says, tipping his head to the side and shaking it as if he expects it to clink. Thanks to the Abra's abilities, Janelle is overwhelmed by the flood of talking and just laughs. The young model brushes one of her pigtails back over her shoulder and beams at the smaller boy. "That is adorable! You're liking Sophia, that is. I know her. Met her through my friend Vixen. She err, seems real nice!" Janelle says with relish, not really knowing what to say for the other trainer. She had made an interesting impression on the athlete. Janelle snags a sandwich from the pack for herself and leans gently against the Persian's side. She daintly nips off a piece, chewing slowly and thoughtfully with an impish look to her already pixie face. "I can see that. I bet you'd be cute together. Have you asked her on a date?" she muses, totally getting side tracked from the conversation about Eevee. As long as the dating questions are aimed in his direction, she'd be just fine. Salabim eyes them all distastefully while working on a small sandwich of his own. He heaves a sigh, not one that has much interest in love.

Watt? July already? You must be 'lion! Bingo! (Saving!)

Afterglow the Charmander can only laugh at the continued arguments between the Machop and his trainer. It isn't clear whether what the Machop says is true or not, but he seems to be getting a lot of fun out of teasing his trainer about it. Rick is of course denying it, whether he actually likes Sophia or not. "I don't like her like that! Er, I like her as a friend... but not like that! Zack's making it all up!" he protests. Alas, the more he protests, the more likely the notion sounds. <Yeah right! I sussed it when you talked about sending those two Eevee to the breeding center. I saw the look in your eyes! I saw it!> the Machop taunts again. "What look? I..." Rick begins, but doesn't finish, as he is running out of defenses. "I'm going to trade for a -female- Machop, just to shut you up!" <Well, I could give you a few pointers, I bet! Anyway, the surefire way to get a girl interested is to show interest in another one!> Zack chuckles, his mischievous eyes shifting to Janelle once again. <Well, there's a perfect opportunity right here! You should...> he begins, but his plans are cut off by the red beam from his golden pokeball. Rick sighs as he clips the ball back on his belt. "Sorry, he's... well, I think getting him a mate -will- shut him up, what do you think?" While waiting for an answer, Rick begins to rummage once more, quickly pulling out a bag of potato chips. Not the healthiest food ever, but quick and easy.

Janelle's cheeks are flushed and merry at the topic and she raises a hand to conceal the giggles that are spilling from her now. Her eyes switch from the Machop to the trainer and back again. Then, sadly, the entertainment is ended when Zack is returned to his pokeball. The Persian gives a faint snort and the athlete in matching swim attire scratches at his ear. "Well, I think Zack would probably appreciate a mate. And, I also think you are in denial. Sophia is a nice girl. What is wrong with admitting to having an interest in her, hmm?" the older teen asks, leaning forward and propping up on an elbow that is planted on her knee. She smiles a Rick, eyes looking through him and challenging him to wiggle out of this one. The little male Squirtle chuckles again, tossing the female water type a look of adoration and immature mischief. Dating and love is something Janelle doesn't blush to discuss, breeding, however. That is a different story. Something about that makes Janelle go scarlet and uncomfortable. "I actually think it is sweet," she says with a sigh. "Want me to see if Sophia is interested?" she smirks at the other trainer and tosses the Charmander a wink if she can catch her eye.

It definitely seems that Rick is unable to wriggle anywhere, and it looks like he would rather crawl and hide under a nearby rock. "There's nothing wrong with it, but I just don't! I... I'm not convincing you, am I?" Rick sighs and looks out to sea, for lack of support from any direction. "She's... seventeen? Eighteen? I'm fifteen. It wouldn't be right..." he sighs again, finally giving up denying it altogether. Perhaps his lack of experience with this subject has made him... reluctant, since he has never had a girlfriend of his own. He would laugh and joke about it at school, as all boys do, but he didn't bargain on this happening. "No! She'd... Well, I don't know what she'd think of me!" he says quickly in reply to the girl's question. Since Afterglow is not in Rick's range of vision, she catches the wink and quickly nods vigorously, winking back. She has been hanging around the Machop for too long, for sure. Suddenly, the two Abra appear, having decided to investigate what all the commotion is about. The female quickly jumps to the right conclusion, seeing Rick's forlorn-looking expression. Nothing makes him lose his smile... apart from things like this. This is no time for fun and joking, and because of this, Rick looks lost.

Now Janelle looks rather guilty. "Oh, well, I err," she stammers as the cheerful boy fades into a serious attitude. "I'm almost eighteen and I wouldn't be upset if a fifteen year old liked me," she offers in a quiet, reassuring voice. "Really," she says, attempting to reach across and pat the boy if she can reach a knee or an elbow. "I don't know why feelings have to be such a hard issue. But, what I do know is that if you bottle them up inside and never let them out, sometimes, well, you never get the chance," she tells Rick with a sick smile, actually looking as if her tan face has drained of some of its color. At her side, the Abra prickles at the other two appear and he looks at the female. His heart flutters a bit and then sink since she is obviously part of a pair, but his eyes still look at her. His face is a mask of calm and disinterest. The solitary Salabim turns back to his sandwich eyes lowered and the faintest of blushes creeping across his amber cheeks. Him and Janelle, they had each other and it seemed that was how it was meant to be. The girl isn't looking so good now. Her face is distinctly pale and her sandwich lies forgotten, though not by the Persian.

Rick looks up from the unopened bag of potato chips straight into Janelle's eyes, and he begins to feel guilty himself. "I'm... sorry, I shouldn't have..." he stammers. "I'd better get used to this, I think it will happen more than once..." He looks sideways at his pokemon, to see that all eyes are focused on him, and there is not a single joking one among them. Dagger, the young Scyther just looks confused by all of this, and Rick notices it immediately. "Don't worry Dagger, you'll understand it eventually... I'll have to get Blade to teach you all about it!" At last, the grin returns, albeit in a very weak capacity, but it is there once again. It is the warrior Scyther's turn to look surprised now. Rick chuckles, trying to relieve some of the tension, and he wipes his brow again. "Uh, I've changed my mind. Would you... er... ask her for me? Please?" he asks, smiling yet serious. At this, Afterglow cheers silently, behind her trainer all the way in whatever he chooses to do. "You know, I'm gonna love the look on Zack's face when he finds out. What's he going to tease me about now?" the youngster grins at the older teen. <I'm sure he'll find something,> the female Abra confirms. <Yeah, the idiot doggy always needs to keep himself amused...> the male interjects, causing the Charmander to chuckle. Rick's attention quickly turns to Janelle, now his own problems have been lifted from his shoulders. "Are you... okay?" he asks, concerned.

The stricken belle gulps and forces a smile back on her face, hand coming down to save her sandwich from the snaking paw of her large feline. "I'll, uh, I'll be sure and ask her. In fact, I'll make a point to track her down," she informs the boy reassuringly. The teen sighs and places her other hand on her forehead. "I'm ok. Perhaps it is just too much sun," she says, beginning to pack away her food and the empty dishes of her companions. The teen places a hand to her heart as she does so, seeming very ill. Her chest rises and falls heavily and she hustles to get things packed up. "Ok, see you in a bit," she tells the pokemon, recalling all except for the Abra. Salabim looks nervously from her to the female Abra and stays near her protectively, should something happen. "It was nice to talk to you," she says, waiting for him to stand up so she can reclaim the towel. The girl fidgets until she can do this and then rolls it up and straps it to her pack. Lastly, she tosses on a pair of shoes and a shirt, then pulls the pack onto her back. "Sorry," she all but whimpers now, "but I have to go!" she exclaims, spinning and hustling off with the Abra floating behind. Were those tears? The day may have been over cast, but at least it didn't rain, or did it?

Wow. What a scene. Rick's first serious scene too. So... More than teammates? We shall see.
