****Due to my schedule, SCORCHERS Softball summer league will not be updated. However, a new site launch is planned for fall 2003 just in time to follow us through fall ball. The new site will contain a new look and include everything you see here plus many more interactive pages. I will be changing to Cold Fusion Server which will enhance your visit to our site and hopefully will make you want to come back every day!. My schedule is clear in five weeks(starting July 11, 2003) and I can't wait to reveal the new look. Thanks, TIP****
11/14/02 ***SCORCHERS ended the season on a positive note advancing to the championship game with a 20-9 victory over MUD's Brew Crew Wednesday 11/6/02. Unfortunately, SCORCHERS fell to the Wing Warehouse 12-14 because of a bottom of the 7th, 3 run home run that ended the game/season. SCORCHERS was on top through every inning but fell fell hard with one swing of the bat. Although they did not triumph in the final game of the year, SCORCHERS finished with a 2nd place finish after starting the season 1-2. Great Season guys and should look forward to next year's summer ball. Don't forget to check out ALL of our pages for final updates. Peace!
10/31/02 ***Well, SCORCHERS went trick or treating Wednesday night vs Spectrum Instruments and almost got tricked!!! They squeaked a 16-15 victory from Spectrum in the bottom of the 7th inning in the 32 degree weather. Helping SCORCHERS win their 6th game of the fall season were Chris Tipton who went 3-4 with 4 RBI's and hitting his first home run of the year, Bryan Eagle who hit 3-5 bringing in 2, Doug McGuire who went 3-4 bringing in 1, and Kris Baker who went 2-5 and batting in 5. This win secures a 3rd place finish to the regular season and will play the #2 seed MUD's Brew Crew (6-2) on Wednesday Nov. 6th at 7:15. The winner of this game will then play the winner of the #1 Wing Warehouse (8-0) / #4 Stow United Methodist game that is slated for 6:15. The championship will be at 8:15 at Silver Springs Park fld #1.
10/29/02 ***SCORCHERS will finish the regular season tomorrow night (weather permitting) at Silver Springs Park when they face the 4-3 team from Spectrum Instruments at 9:15.
10/24/02 ***It took SCORCHERS only 5 innings to take care of Custom Boat Covers last night as Silver Springs Park. With a 30-13 win, SCORCHERS moves into a tie for 2nd place with MUD's Brew Crew both with 5-2 records heading into the final regular season game next week. Brandon Olivo led the way going 4 for 4 with 3 RBI's. Jay Dinapoli hit 3 doubles and 4 RBI's in his 3 for 4 night, Kris Baker went 4 for 5 with 4 RBI's and Barney Fay went 3 for 4 with 3 RBI's to help SCORCHERS win their 4th straight game. Brian Gregory went deep twice and Tom Gregroy went long once in the shortened 5 inning game. Next week SCORCHERS plays Spectrum Instruments in the regular season finale at Silver Springs Park.
10/17/02***Games for 10/16/02 were cancelled due to rain. No make up date has been set as of yet.
10/15/02 ***SCORCHERS will face Spectrum Instruments at 9:15 tomorrow night at Silver Springs Park as they try to win their 3rd straight game and move their record to 5-2. Looking for a playoff spot, this is a must win for SCORCHERS Softball.
10/11/02 ***Wednesday nights victim just happened to be the team from Stow United Methodist. SCORCHERS, as a team, hit 31 for 40 in a 28-13 trounce at Silver Springs Park. Leading the way for SCORCHERS was Brandon Olivo as he came back from a 2 week absence to go 3 for 3. Mike Basile brought in 4 runs while hitting 3 for 3 and Brian Gregory continues to punish pitchers having his 3rd straight perfect hitting night going 4 for 4 with 5 RBI's. Dennis Mathieu finally found his stroke and went 3 for 3 and hurled his 3rd straight victory.
10/8/02 ***On Wednesday, SCORCHERS will have one of the biggest games of the fall season. They meet Stow United Methodist at 7:15 at Silver Springs Park to battle for a possible 2nd place standing. After a slow start, SCORCHERS has their winning ways back and plans to show S.U.M that they are one of the premier teams in the league. The last loss to S.U.M came over 2 years ago in summer ball and SCORCHERS has not forgotten about that summer night loss. This is a must win for SCORCHERS as they need to claw their way back into first place to defend their 2001 fall ball championship.
10/3/02 ***18-5....That was the romping Allied took last night as SCORCHERS tallied 28 hits and smacked 7 home runs at Silver Springs Park. Leading the way going 4 for 4 with 3 home runs and 6 RBI's was Tom Gregory. Also going deep for SCORCHERS were Brian Gregory (4 for 4), Doug McGuire (4 for 4), and Kris Baker (4 for 4). Chris Tipton continued to swing a hot bat for the second week in a row going 4 for 4 and Dennis Mathieu got his 3rd win of the fall season.
9/26/02 ***Finally, SCORCHERS Softball played like they did in summer ball tallying 26 hits and ending the game after 5 innings with a 21-8 victory over rival Krispy Kreme. This ends SCORCHERS losing slide at 2 games. Slump?? What slump?? After last nights performance it looked as if they found out what was needed to come away with a victory every week. Brandon Olivo and Chris Tipton put up their best numbers of the fall season both going 3 for 4 and driving in 3. Joe Sidebotham kept his hot bat going 2 for 3 with 3 RBI's and Brian Gregory went 4 for 4 bringing in 4 and launching a 2 run bomb over the left field fence and boosting his team leading batting average to .750
Mike Basile played for the first time since he injured his knee last season and went 1 for 1 with a double. Welcome back Mike!!
Next week is position week and SCORCHERS finds themselves in unfamiliar territory at the halfway mark with a 5th place standing.
Next week's (10/2/02) game is at 8:15 p.m. fld #1.
9/19/02 ***One word.....SLUMP...7 runs in two games???That's the only real conclusion that one could come up with after last night's shocking 7-16 loss against MUD's Brew Crew. Again, most of SCORCHERS bats were dead although Brian Gregory and Tom Gregory were impressive Wednesday night both going 3 for 3. Kris Baker went deep for the first time this fall and Joe Sidebotham kept his team high batting average of .667 intact going 2 for 3.
Next week's game is against arch rival Krispy Kreme. Both teams are in need of a victory and hopefully will turn out to be a great game.
