hana-chan knows right from wrong...sort of (taking books, cds, and videos and scattering them on the floor is a favorite pastime, among others). we always warn her when she is about to partake in the latter with the always alarming japanese reprimand "ara-ara-ara-ara," at which point she stops in her tracks and used to turn away. these days, however, she merely freezes with still-outstretched arms and repeats the "ara-ara-ara-ara" part back to us. this situation does have an upside though: even when we aren't looking, we will often here a faint little voice in the background announcing the imminent transgression, at which point we are obliged to join the "ara-ara-ara-ara" chorus.hana has earned her nickname "cheeks" from some of the neighbors here at park labrea...look to the left to see why! to the right, hana during a midday nap.
