    1680 - Edward SWETNAM, came to Kent County.
  Richard SWETNAM, father of John and brother of Edward, operated a saw and grist mill on the border between Talbot and Queen Ann’s Counties.
  July 27, 1678 - survey done for Robert SMITH...for John SWETNAM’s heirs.
  1693 - Kent County, MD, Capt. Edward SWETNAM was a Justice of the court.

  July 21, 1697 - Talbot County, MD, will of Capt. Richard SWETNAM proved. Had several thousand acres of land. Names sons, John & William; sister, Eliza; wife, Jane; brother Edward was executor.
  1698/1699 - Kent County, MD, Edward SWETNAM’s will. He was cousin to John, William, & Eliza above. Left estate to cousins and sisters.

  Nov. 28, 1719 - Queen Anne’s County, VA, valuation of the lands of William SWETNAM, deceased, included a water mill called Chester Mill.
  July 3, 1720 - Queen Anne’s County, MD, will of William SWETNAM proved, naming daughters Ester and Sarah; Wife, Sarah; and an unborn child. This William SWETNAM was living in Talbot County in 1704 when the Maryland Assembly authorized him to sell 1624 acres he had received from the estate of Richard SWETNAM, deceased.
  Jan. 20, 1728/1729 - Queen Anne’s County, MD, Stephen SWETNAM & Rachel STANTON married at St. Luke’s Church. Stephen died 1746/1747; he had a son John or Joseph.

  1778 - King George County, VA, will of Thomas FICKLIN proved. He and his wife Sarah BRUCE, had two daughters who married SWETNAMs. Sarah FICKLIN m. John SWETNAM; Susannah FICKLIN m. William SWEETNIAM (sic). Both marriages are recorded in Bath County, KY.
  1782 to 1787 - Virginia taxpayers in King George County; John SWETNAM and William SWETNAM.
  1785 - King George County, VA, William SWEETNAM and wife, Susannah, sold 48 acres to Francis Fitzhugh.
  Feb. 13, 1873 - John Burgess WELLMAN is born in KY. He marries Amanda SWETNAM.
