Greener10: Hello, I am coach Greener10 and today i have coach oleballcoach with me to take some time and answer some questions about the man behind the monkier. Thanks for taking the time to be here coach.

Oleballcoach: hey whats up.

Greener10: So, please give your name, age, and a little about yourself.

OBC: My name is Kyle, i am 23 years old and live in Omaha, Nebraska. I am going to school at the University of Nebraska-Omaha majoring in Secondary Education(History & Physical Education). I have about a year and a half left of school then i will be student teaching here in Omaha. I am also getting a supplemental coaching endorsement. ideally i would like to be a head coach baseball or basketball and possibly help out with football.

Greener: do you, or have you, played any of those sports or do you just have a love for them?

OBC: Growing up i played all of them and know days i play a lot of pick up basketball games and play in a men's softball league in the summers. Ihave been getting into refereeing basketball. I want to get into umpiring baseball but i wasnt going to have time for it this summer. You can really make a killing umpiring baseball games especially during the College World Series as there are tons of youth baseball tournments going on during those two weeks of the year in Omaha.

Greener10: Is this the most exciting time in Omaha?

OBC: I would have to say yes. Getting to meet other college baseball fans from across the country is a lot of fun. And the atmosphere not just around Rosenblatt but the entire city is just great. What better atmosphere can you ask for if you are a player in the CWS getting 25,000+ to cheer you on every game. i have been going to games every year since 1993. My first game i saw LSU play Florida and then saw them later in the tournment play Miami and was about 15 ft away from where Warren Morris walk off homer landed that won them a National Championship. LSU always brought some amazing fans, they have always been a big favorite in Omaha. In my opinion this is an event that any baseball fan needs to make. For about 2 weeks you get to see some of the most exciting baseball out there.

Greener10: ESPN has been giving the CWS a lot of publicity this year and that has raised the interest level around the country. Would you say that there more fans this year than usual?

OBC: A few years back when the NHL went on strike was about the best thing to happen for college baseball. That year ESPN replaced a lot of its hockey games with baseball games. That was also the year they started putting the Regional and Super Regional games on from around the country. Since they have been doing that I think the college baseball is becoming much more popular. But as far as attendence for the CWS it is pretty close to what it was last year. But attendence has be better then it was in the 90's but a lot of that is because of the adding of seats to Rosenblatt. Back when i first started going to games the most they could get in is 24,000 or so, know they can get to around 30,000 in.

Greener10: Nice. Do you have any family or a girlfriend?

OBC: I am currently single, i broke up with my girlfriend about 3 weeks ago.

Greener10: Ah, im sorry to hear that. What are your favorite types of music?

OBC: I listen to all kinds of music really. lately i have been listening to a lot of O.A.R, Panic! at the Dicso, Fall Out Boy and just some random country songs i put on a CD. Usually i just listen to stuff that will get me in the mood for what ever i am going to be doing. But as soon a fall comes around and i start going to some Nebraska football games i will listen to some stuff that will get me pumped up to go and cheer on the Huskers.

Greener10: What is your favorite type of food?

OBC: Favorite food would have to be steak

Greener10: Good choice. What are your favorite sports teams (4 major pro, 2 (i guess for you 3) college)?

OBC: MLB- New York Yankees
NFL- Tampa Bay Bucs
NBA- Chicago Bulls
NCAA- Nebraska Cornhuskers and Nebraska-Omaha
with college baseball i also like to follow Rice, Cal State Fullerton and LSU but the Huskers are still my #1 team

Greener10: WHat team do you hate the most in any sport and why?

OBC: I would have to say the Colorado or Kansas St. I have always had bad experiences with those 2 groups of fans going to away games. but even as much as i dislike them i would not say i hate them i just dont like there universities athletic programs. I have never had problems at away games with any other schools in the big 12 that i have been too.

Greener10: What are your favorite computer games?

OBC: not much for actual computer games but i have always loved the sports games for PS2. but since that broke recently i am in the process of deciding if i want to get another game console. If i do i will probably get an XBox 360.

Greener10: If it is the disk read error than there is a great website i found that tells you how to fix it. I recently had that problem and as of 2 days ago my PS2 is working once again. It was a good thing too, cause i got Guitar Hero from a friend. Anyway, this isnt an interveiw about me. Do you have any favorite athletes?

OBC: I have always been a fan of Roger Clemens. Big fan of A-Rod and Alex Gordon. I have seen Gordon play since high school and when he was at Nebraska and now with the Royals. As for college athletes i would have to go with Tommie Frazier, Mike Brown, Ahman Green from back in the Huskers hayday in the 90s. As for current Huskers i am becoming a big Sam Keller fan. I am looking forward to see what he can do at QB this year for us.

Greener10: Ok, so now i am gonna go to a fill in the blank format for a few questions. Nebraska will finish __ in the Big 12 North this season.

OBC: 1st, and it wont be close.

Greener10: Nebraska will ____ the Big 12 championship game.

OBC: beat Texas in, It will be close and make up for the loss to them in Austin early in the year.

Greener10: Ok, final fill in the blank question and then we will get to the GD related questions. Tom Osbourne is _________.

OBC: one of the best coaches in college football history.

Greener10: Ok, so now we are moving on to whatifsports. How did you hear about the website?

OBC: It was a couple of years ago and my morning class was cancelled and i wasnt going to have a class until later in the afternoon so i went back home and turned on the TV and was flipping through the channels and stoped on cold pizza(which happened to be the only time i ever watched it still to this day) And they were doing the D1-A playoff thing. I thought it was kind of cool so i checked it out. I could not think of a name and sure enough i had switched the channel and on sportscenter they had a piece on Steve Spurrier, who i had always kind of been a fan of. and that is where i got the idea for oleballcoach.

Greener10: Do you play any other games on WIS besides GD?

OBC: I am done to one GD team right now. Army in Wilkinson. I had another team in Rockne but i decided to cut back to one team. I also have a HBD team in world More Cowbell, where i am in control of the Omaha Mavericks. I also recently got back in to HD in world Rupp with Clarion a D2 school. I love HBD, it is probably my favorite out of the 3 dynasty games

Greener10: Alright, even though your favorite is HBD, what was the draw to GD?

OBC: The draw to GD for me was the chance to coach Nebraska. I dont know if i will ever get that chance but that is my number 1 goal other than winning a National Title.

Greene10: Do you have any teams that you are particularly attached to (that you have coached)?

OBC: When i was at Long Island in Rockne i was really attached to that team. At the time it is was school i was at the longest until i spent 9 seasons at Baylor in Wilkinson. I had my most success at Long Island and if i was better at gameplanning i could have possibly won a title. But in my trips to the final 4 i was stopped by the cravedogg/md combo at Valdosta St and richramirez and his Mars Hill team led by Lee frecking Hill. I believe i lost to Scottso in the quarterfinals one season and lost to melch once when he was starting his great championship run at Western Washington.

Greener10: If you could give jconte one piece of advice, what would it be?

OBC: Well this is actually kind of tough cause there are lots of things i would like him to get done, but i am going to say, just get something done to show all of us there is some progress being made. There has been nothing happening to GD in seems like forever. Sometimes i wonder if JC died and they just havent gotten a replacement. I mean the last update was 11/30 of last year and before that if i remember correctly that one was a few months before the one on 11/30. if i took that pace to finish things i dont think i could ever get anything done.

Greener10: Yes, i believe that was the change for the recruit distribution being put back to normal. Anyway, what part of the game do you feel you were the best at?

OBC: I would say i am best at the recuiting aspect of the game. I always seem to get a team to were i can beat the top teams but my gameplanning never seems to get me over the hump. For instance when i was at Baylor i felt i had a team that could compete with the elites in the conference, but more times then not my gameplanning would cost me. And sure enough after i leave Baylor the next coach takes them and wins a conference championship a couple of seasons after i left.

Greener10: And the part that you are worst at?

OBC: Even though i have had some success at this game i think the thing that will keep me from getting closer to the elite coaches in this game is gameplanning. But i would not say that i am horrible at it. I just cant get it done against the top tier of coaches.

Greener10: If you had the power to make 1 change in any aspect, specific or not, of GD, what would it be?

OBC: One thing that i really wanted(but not sure if would be feasible) is to have more of a break down for positions. Not just for lineman but also for Linebackers(Sam, Will, Mike), WR(X,Y) DBs and RB/FB. I know there are a few things that have to get done before they consider that but i would like to see the game evolve to that some day. I would like to see the game more indepth like HBD.

Greener10: That would be nice, as that is high on my list as well. Ok, so one final question. What do you feel you do differently than Joe Schmo that makes you a better coach then he is?

OBC: Well i really dont do this to the same degree as i use to but i would take some very detailed notes on what coaches were doing against me. I would chart the plays based on down, distance and the quarter of my opponents. With some of the upper teir coaches I would even chart what they did against other opponents. But it got to the point where it was to time consuming and taking the joy out of the game for me so I stopped doing it. It would only take me about 15-30 min depending on how many games i was charting, but it just got to the point where it was just such a hassle to do it. Now it is more of just some few key notes on some teams.

Greener10: Alright Oleballcoach, you are a class act and a quality coach. I want to wish you the best of luck in all future activities both in and outside of GD and thank you for taking the time to do this interview.

OBC: Thanks, it was no problem
