The Man

Rob: First off, whats your real name?

Dwhit34: David Whitmore

Rob: Tell me a little about yourself?

Dwhit34: 34, currently living in a FEMA trailer due to Hurricane Katrina, in the process of rebuilding my house in New Orleans

Rob: Where are you from?

Dwhit34: New Orleans

Rob: Married, single, kids?

Dwhit34: single, currently dating my business partner and best friend. She is awesome and totally understands WIS. She says, "I don't know why anyone would get upset. It is better than running around in bars." I agree.

Rob: What do you do for work?

Dwhit34: Chef/Owner of Mimi's Restaurant in River Ridge (suburb of NO)

Rob: Favorite activities or Hobbies?

Dwhit34: since the many surgeries over the past couple of years (diverticulitis), my physical activity is limited, so it is basically just WIS

Rob: Favorite video games if you play them?

Dwhit34: the only one I have played in many years is The Godfather, but it was cutting into GD time, so I cut back

Rob: Favorite food?

Dwhit34: duck (the versatility is amazing) or sweetbreads (although they aren't good for the heart), also wines are a huge part of my meals, preferably from France

Rob: Favorite sports figures?

Dwhit34: Reggie Bush, Deuce McAlister and Chris Paul, we are lucky to have guys like them in New Orleans, also Drew Brees, Nick Saban, Michael Clayton

Rob: Favorite sports teams? Pro - College

Dwhit34: LSU, Saints and Hornets, outside of the area I follow the Cubs heavily

Rob: If you could insert yourself into a TV show what would it be?

Dwhit34: Monday Night Football- I would like to replace Tony Kornheiser in the booth.

Rob: Do you have a good Hooters story?

Dwhit34: I have tons of them, LOL

The Coach

Rob: How did you find out about the WIS website?

Dwhit34: I was playing the baseball game that is linked to ESPN (Diamond Legends, I think), and I also used to go to mlb.com a lot, and I saw the link there, so I decided to check it out and started playing SIM baseball.

Rob: How did you come up with your user name?

Dwhit34: name and 34 is for Kirby Puckett

Rob: Do you play any other WIS games? if yes, which ones?

Dwhit34: I was playing SIM baseball but only in nordawg's leagues which were the best. Then I played some HD, but I do not like it at all. Now I play GD and HBD only.

Rob: Do you have any other WIS IDs that you use? We know you do, so have these multiple personalties led to you getting confused or carrying on conversations with yourself? Do we need to call Dr. Phil?

Dwhit34: I co-coach with cyphilissb under chucknduck. You probably need to call Dr. Phil, but it would have nothing to do with me, it would have to do with his split personalities and why he is doing those shampoo commercials. I often have conversations with myself, and I really don't know whether I am dwhit34 or David, my lines of reality cross to the point where I sometimes wonder if I am going to be able to get to the next recruits house. Ahhh, the agony!!

Rob: Do you have a funny story about how you forgot what user name you were and sent a sitemail or post you wish you hadn't?

Dwhit34: Haven't done that yet.

Rob: Dave, I know you have many great accomplishments but do you have a favorite GD moment?

Dwhit34: turning Liberty into a serious NC contender in Leahy, they were horrible, but we have been to two of the last three final fours, twice we were bumped in the playoffs by the very well known Harvard team

Rob: How many worlds are you in?

Dwhit34: all of them

Rob: What do look for when applying for new teams?

Dwhit34: a couple of decent players, other than that, I don't really care, location doesn't matter to me

Rob: Do look to run all their teams the same way, or do you run each one differently?

Dwhit34: All of them are different, I have no plan, I have no adgenda, and I have no strategy, I just fire away with each of them in a different manner

Rob: Any tips on recruiting?

Dwhit34: You can find great recruits all over, cheaply and without battling. Especially in the lower levels.

Rob: How about advanced settings tips?

Dwhit34: Utilize your best players in the formations that they will thrive in. This will get your best players on the field.

Rob: Tips on practice time?

Dwhit34: I know this is up for debate, but I find on my teams where I practice 15 min for ST's, I get a lot of long returns. But who really knows.

Rob: Aggressiveness settings?

Dwhit34: I adjust them like crazy, so I think this is an area that is hard to explain.

Rob: What teams in your opinion are the most successful on offense...All pass, all run, or balanced. Why?

Dwhit34: All pass seem to do well, but I find it is harder to match up against good balance. Slowing the game down will help against a good pass team, but when you face a balanced team, it is difficult to stop both aspects of the game.

Rob: Does Defense really matter or is it just about Offense?

Dwhit34: Defense is huge. If you can't play defense, you can't win.

Rob: What is the most important position on a team?

Dwhit34: Running back. This position can change a team in GD.

Rob: Do you feel the game is changing and have you had to alter the way you play the game?

Dwhit34: I always alter my style of play. All of my teams are different, and I try to always change them up. I don't know if it is changing as a whole, but I notice there are not as many "all run" teams.

Rob: Has anyone given you some new or interesting advice concerning the game recently that you have adapted into your game?

Dwhit34: deandg, can't disclose it, but we have had many long chats about GD

Rob: One coach that you would want to coach your team in a Championship game?

Dwhit34: deandg

Rob: One coach you find most difficult to coach against?

Dwhit34: ddingo

Rob: Favorite Level that you have played at?

Dwhit34: tough to say, but I think DIAA because I do like the playoffs

Rob: Favorite GD coaches or friends?

Dwhit34: my co-coaches cyph and rob are great. vhoward, jtrover and ebel are probably my longest running rivals, along with ddingo. The list is long, but if I am in a conference with you, especially the ones I have been in for a while, it is because I enjoy it. I only stay in conferences where I enjoy a lot of coaches, and I try to recruit coaches to those conferences. In Leahy, Bryant, Camp, Heisman, Wilkinson, and Stagg, I have great relationships with all those guys, and I am hoping to have a nice tenure in Rockne. You guys make this fun!! Thanks for everything dean and mjmage, we don't coach against each other any more, but you guys are great.

Rob: Should the NCAA go to a Playoff in D1A?

Dwhit34: YES!!

Rob: Real Life: Ohio St. or Florida? Should Michigan be playing in the National Championship game instead of Florida?

Dwhit34: I would like to see the SEC win, but I think Ohio State is too much. I think Florida should be there.

Thanks again,
Rob
