Record: 236-34 Championships Conference: 11 National: 2 blackjesus9 Record: 317-87 Championships Conference: 7 National: 0 Q: Who is blackjesus06/ blackjesus9? A. My real life name is Chuck H. I am 33 years old and I was born and raised just south of Dayton, OH- the birthplace of aviation. I work in the corporate/information security field and my wife of 8 years and I recently had triplets....that's right-TRIPLETS. I'm also finally finishing my degree. Q. Triplets? Wow, Congrats! What has that experience been like? A. It has been amazing. I consider myself to be the luckiest guy on the face of the earth. I'll never forget sitting in the ultrasound and the doctor saying " Uh oh. Wow. 1............2...........and 3. You have 3 in there. " My wife looked at me and I was speechless. Literally. My first thought was that I was in deep shit. There were some tense moments during the pregnancy but we now have 2 perfectly healthy boys and a healthy little girl. I don't know what else to say. I'm on cloud nine. Q:How did you hear about whatifsports.com? A: I would always hear some friends of mine at work talking about what I would later find out was Gridiron Dynasty. I would hear things like "You ran Pace into the ground", "He gashed me out of the box", and something about effectiveness percentages. They sounded almost creepy the way they affectionately talked about this make believe world.....sort of like the dungeons and dragons kids back in the day. I didn't want to be left out though, so I signed on and now I am addicted with no hope for recovery. Thanks fellas. Q. What is the origin of your user name? A. I'm not really black nor am I super religious. I am paying homage to Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis. If you are a Bengals fan, you understand just how bad it was when he arrived. He has brought them back to respectability with a division championship. Sure, the other 3 seasons have been mediocre with three 8-8 efforts and they have a ton of convicts but compared to the walking tampons who preceded him he truly is a black jesus. I don't miss the days of Vagina Carter. Q: How does your wife react to you playing GD? A: Well, she knows not to ask me to do anything at 2:30 PM.....or AM for that matter. During recruiting, I may even have her drop a campus visit or two if I'm away from the PC. Q:What games do you play on WIS.com? A: I'm a one woman man. GD is her name. Q:Any secrets on your success to share with the rest of WIS? A: I don't have any secrets. In fact, I'm the one who needs help. But if you don't want to completely suck first you must recruit good players. Don't leave your effectiveness at 60% and don't run the 3-4 to stop the ND Box. Also, don't always seek out the weakest conference so you can pad your record. You won't learn anything. "Anyone can steer a ship in calm waters. " Who are the toughest coaches you have faced? That's a difficult question but I'll give it a shot: Some days they are all tough for me but the toughest coach I've faced and the one I've admired most from afar has to be mjmage. He is an unbelievable recruiter and his teams are always stacked. chgunns is also extremely tough . Also, The ACC in Warner is a very competitive conference with excellent coaches but rc1990 has personally given me the most trouble. I've only beat him once in I don't know how many tries. He's a great recruiter and a very good game planner. I could go on and on. I'm not in every world with 5000 games played like some and we all know who the big guns are (they already get enough press) but here are some other notables that you don't hear mentioned often that deserve recognition: pudley4- Underrated, one of the big guns IMO cfbfan18- keep an eye on this one- multiple title winner cnsuks- great job rebuilding Worcester Tech in Rockne rockeye- very successful veteran coach who looks to be getting even better. viszlahunter- don't take your eye off this cat. He is a future national champ. jkz3- the comeback kid- another future national champ. brocal-does more with less- never takes the easy route-always takes the re-build job- once he settles in people will take notice. lilcoch- Mr. upset. You want no part of him if you're not ready for 4 quarters. On the verge.... cardsfankane- He's already really good. IMO, he has a chance of being great. dirtybutt- top flight recruiter who is waging war w/ Notre Dame and Penn St. in maybe the toughest division in Camp. tgrza- former national champ- tough as nails sjurat- great guy- one of the funnier personalities in GD and a huge What's Happening fan. He also is president of the BJ and the Bear fan club. Q:Do you have a favorite WIS college football team you have coached? A: I would have to say Coast Guard in Rockne. They were my first team in GD and I grew with them from their initial 380 overall rating to my first national championship. The fact that I built them from scratch caused me to get somewhat attached. Q:Congratulations on your 1st DIII GD Championship. How does it feel to win it all? A: Thanks, it feels great. I was determined to win a nc with a team I'd built from the beginning. I was prepared to stay at Coast Guard as long as it took. All championships are cool and all, but when you win one with a team where you started with nothing, those mean a lot more in my opinion. Q:What changes would you make concerning Gridiron Dynasty, such as game play and play-by-plays? A: I would like a more advanced depth chart to include the fullback, safeties etc., a 5-8 schedule in D-1, more control over the 2 minute offense/field goals etc. and for customer support to not make shit up when they answer my questions. With all that said, this game is a blast. I'm addicted, and you are too, or you wouldn't be reading an interview with somebody calling themselves blackjesus. Q:What is your opinion on the subject of lateral moves/ piggy backing etc.? A: That depends on the situation. If you are a coach who has successfully completed rebuilding bad teams before and won conference championships, I don't see a problem with it on occasion as long as you take that team to the next level. I do have a problem with coaches who languish in mediocrity, jump to a contender and run them into the ground and then jump to their next failure. It's embarrassing and bad for the game. The bottom line is, if you promote yourself laterally then prove you deserve it. Q. List your top 3 Gridiron Dynasty Moments: 1. Winning the national championship at Coast Guard (Rockne D3) 2. Beating 34jayhawk (jeffkahleb) at Miami, FL for the ACC conference championship in Warner 3. Winning the national championship at Rockford (Wilkinson D3) honorable mention: Making 34jayhawk throw from the Notre Dame box Q:What are your favorite sports teams? A: Cincinnati Bengals, Ohio State Buckeyes, Cincinnati Bearcats, Cincinnati Reds, Philadelphia 76ers, Navy, and all the local Dayton and Ohio schools. Q:If you could talk to one person, alive or dead, who would it be and why? A:I don't think I could pick just one but if I had to it would probably be whoever created life, the earth, the universe etc. At the very least maybe someone who at least knew them. In that case, I could pretty much have any question answered. If that wasn't possible, I'd settle for John Ritter. Three's Company was the nuts. Q:What do you consider the best sports moment in history and why? A: I'll have to name a few here. These are my greatest sports moments in my lifetime (in no particular order): 1. Pete Rose's single off Eric Show to break the all time hit record. What an amazing night. 2. Cincinnati Reds winning the 1990 world series 3. tie-watching the Bengals in 2 super bowls. They lost both, but it was unforgettable anyway. 4. Ohio St. winning the National Championship against Miami, FL. 5. Evander Holyfield beating Mike Tyson. I'll never forget Tyson bull rushing Holyfield in the first round and Evander firing right back at him. The look on Tyson's face was that of a beaten man. Tyson was overrated IMO, but that's another story. Q:Did you play a lot of sports growing up? A: Baseball was my main sport. I played for 13 years. Though I tried, football never panned out for me due to a couple knee surgeries. I also played some soccer when I was younger, and even boxed some in the Navy for fun. Q:How good are the odds that Ohio State will win March Madness? A: I'd say they're 50/50 since they are now in the title game vs. Florida. They've had an unbelievable season and Thad Matta has done a fabulous job. I liked him a lot when he coached Xavier. I will say that I don't think Greg Oden will be as good in the NBA as some think he will. update: Florida was not kind to my Buckeyes this season. Props to the Gators. What are your hobbies besides GD? Big sports fan- I love following boxing and try to watch as many fights as I can. Pay per view is total bs though, something needs to be done in that regard. I also play guitar and am a huge music fan. I have probably 1200 cds and close to 400 vinyl LPs and I listen to everything except most country and not a huge fan of rap although some is OK. If you like music do the following: Turn off your radio and that shit that they play and check some of this out- King's X- The Beatles on steroids with Hendrix and Lennon trading lead vocals. Ty Tabor is a bad mofo on the 6 string. Robert Pollard and Guided By Voices- I can't explain. Just listen. But anybody who is drunk enough on stage to say "Hey, do you guys like my shirt? I think it's a woman's shirt. I'm a woman." -gets major kudos. Fleetwood Mac- I know some people can't stand them. I always thought they were OK until I caught them live and was blown away. Lindsey Buckingham is one of the most amazing and unique guitar players I have ever seen. Megadeth- You know you like them. Their new disc United Abominations may be there best one yet. Charlie Feathers- real rockabilly- Should have been bigger than Elvis but he was a drunk and his teeth fell out. Also, the new Tom Waits is pretty cool but drink whiskey and smoke a couple lucky strikes before listening. I also dig me some good flicks. Tarantino, old war movies, 80's slashers, and just about everything else. Q. What is the funniest thing that has ever happened to you? A. When I was in the Navy we were on narcotics ops in the caribbean. We had been out for about 6 weeks and pulled into the Dominican Republic for a port visit. I can't even begin to describe what a shit hole this country is. Their Naval base had trash floating in the harbor and I saw a boat patrolling that had a sail on it with what I'm almost positive was a cannon tied to the deck. I was sick as a dog and running a fever but there was no way I wasn't getting off the ship. It was hovering around 100 degrees and we kept drinking this Dominican beer called El Presidente one after the other. I remember us stopping in a whore house that had a jukebox full of 45's with Men at Work, Culture Club, Michael Sembello and the like. We also saw a donkey show which was the last thing I really remember in full. We apparently finally made it into Santo Domingo where we stopped at a restaurant in a hotel and I ordered a thousand dollars worth of food. When the waiter refused to serve me I allegedly attacked him and started throwing complimentary dinner rolls at everybody. I was later told that I ran from hotel security and escaped in a cab. The next thing I remember was waking up on a bench in a bus station. I asked how to get back to the base and this Dominican woman who I'm guessing worked there began laughing at me and in broken English informed me that I had demanded that a bus take me back to the states at once. She said "Long way to row and bus might sink". I have never been that hammered. Anyway, you have really got to try this El Presidente stuff if you can find it. I haven't found it in the states yet. Q. Wow. On that note........Thanks for the interview. A. No problem. Props to Scottso, Paranoid, GT, Leppy and everyone else who take the time and effort to enhance an already enjoyable game. |
