Take Me With You is the debut album for the Chris White - Aaron Nevezie Quartet. Consisting of mainly original jazz compositions, Take Me With You is the summation of two years of composing and working together in performance situations.

Based in Auckland, The Chris White Aaron Nevezie Quartet is the joining of forces of Aaron Nevezie and Chris White, with two of New Zealand's finest rhythm section players - Kevin Haines and Tony Hopkins. The quartet is a regular band at Deschlers on High St, as well as performing in concert venues throughout Auckland.

Chris White (tenor sax)

A well established New Zealand jazz saxophonist, Chris is also a prominent educator, involved in many North Island schools and band workshops. Chris is regularly asked to perform with visiting artists such as Arturo Sandoval, Dave Weckl, David Clayton-Thomas (Blood Sweat and Tears), Ray Charles, and Dee Dee Bridgewater, and has regularly recorded for Radio New Zealand as well as recording for the recently started radio programme featuring jazz artists, Jazztrack.

Groups also led by Chris are The Chris White Trio and The Four Brothers Saxophone Quartet. Chris performed in both the 1996 and 1997 NZ National Youth Jazz Orchestras, and is a member of the internationally known Rodger Fox Big Band. Chris has performed at the International Association of Jazz Educators Conference in Chicago, the 1996 Manly Jazz festival and the 1995 Wichita Jazz Festival in Kansas, USA.
 

Aaron Nevezie (guitar)

Aaron, a graduate of the Wellington Conservatory of Music Jazz Diploma course, is regularly called on to perform in rhythm sections and as soloist in groups around Auckland, lately including the 1997 winners of the NZ Jazz Album of the Year award, Blue Train. Aaron was part of the 1996 and 1997 New Zealand Youth Jazz Orchestra and performed at the 1996 and 1997 Bay of Islands Jazz Festival. Aaron began 1997 by performing at the International Association of Jazz Educators conference in Chicago, as well as performing in L.A. and Las Vegas. He is currently studying in New York.
 

Kevin Haines (acoustic bass)

Kevin Haines, a veteran of the music industry in New Zealand, has been inspiring and creating music with some of the top names in jazz. Beginning his career in the late fifties at the age of 15, Kevin played at the infamous Montmarte club with the Mike Walker Trio. Since then, Kevin has toured with many visiting musicians, including Cal Collins, Nat Adderley and Mendell Lowe. With his sons Nathan and Joel, Kevin formed the group, The Second Generation.
 

Tony Hopkins (drums)

Tony is the most sought after jazz drummer in Auckland. During the late 50s, Tony was touring the country drumming for The Johnny Devlin Show and backing pop stars including Fabian, Sal Mineo, Tab Hunter, Luck Starr, Johnny Rebb and others. Tony began the 60s living in Hong Kong, playing in clubs and holding the position of Musical Director for "6 O'Clock Rock", a weekly radio programme sponsored by Coca Cola. Returning to New Zealand, playing 6 nights a week at the Montmarte in Auckland, Tony toured with many international performers, including Gene McDaniels, Bobby Vee, The Crystals, Jimmy Rodgers, Johnny Ray and others. Tony also began his business career, eventually becoming the NZ Sales Manager for Danco NZ Ltd.

During the 70s, Tony moved to Brisbane to follow his business career. While there, Tony backed many Australian performers including Mick Nock, Al Cohen (USA), Joe Newman (USA), Don Burrows, Claire Hansen, George Goller, James Morrison, Sandy White, Nicky Crayson, Rick Price, and others. Tony also led his own quartet for two years at the Intercontinental Hotel in Sydney.

Returning to New Zealand, Tony led the resident trio at the London Bar, a group that won the Jazz Album of the Year award in 1992. During this time, Tony performed with overseas and local artists including Charlie Byrd, Tim Hopkins, Nathan Haines, Malcolm McNeil, Joel Haines, Brian Smith, Tina Cross, Beaver, Matty J. Rhys, Ray Wolfe, Ray Columbus, The Chicks, Dinah Lee, Susie lynch, Lynn Lorkin and others. During 1996, Tony hosted and played on Off The Record, a one hour weekly radio programme broadcasting on 35 stations around NZ.
