The NEIL HANNAN BAND plays original and selected
Jazz - flavoured compositions.
Performing work written by past and present band members Steve
Sherriff, Stephen Small and Neil Hannan,
the band also plays material by local and international writers
including, Don Grolnick, John McLaughlin, Godfrey De Grut, Brian Smith,
Herbie Hancock, Victor Young, The Neville Bros, Joe Sample, Tony Backhouse,
Alan Broadbent, Eddie Marshall, Bill Cunliffe, George Chisholm and Ron
Carter.
The band consists of:
Jim Brenan - Tenor Sax. Head of Jazz Studies at SCAPA (Auckland University), Canadian by birth, Jim has toured with 'name' artists including Maynard Ferguson.
Josh Sorensen - Drums. Drum Tutor at MAINZ. In demand drummer around town
Stephen Small - A master of the Keyboard. Classically trained pianist
with music
degree. Popular Music tutor at SCAPA. Stephen is an excellent
writer and performer
Neil Hannan - A Bass player with vast experience. Has played every type
of
gig in popular music from the Orchestra pit to Rock Bands. 2 Solo albums,
a mass of
session work and live performance.
