When young Caroline sets out for the new world, she's doing more than going on a voyage, she's starting a brand new life in the Puritan colonies where her only sister lives. The only problem is that she hasn't seen her sister for 15 years and hasn't heard from her for the last 2. But with her father dead and no marriage prospects, she has to escape the lecherous hands of the people who want to get ahold of her.

Only when she comes to the small town does she discover that her sister is dead and she has to stay with her remaining "family" of brother in laws since he had to pay for her passage over.

Going from the gambling halls to the back breaking work of taking care of 4 grown men and 2 young boys is a big change for Caroline, but it helps to have the handsome Matt Matheison around to make the transition.

Only when a fever overtakes the town is she cast as a witch , and she must fight for her life and the man she loves must fight for her to save her life.
