The Secret

Friends before they knew they were supposed to be enemies, that was Judith and Francis Catherine. Judith from England and her friend from Scotland, at 4 years old the only thing they knew is that they'd found the perfect friends in each other.

The years never mattered that they only got to see each other during the 6 months Judith was with her aunt and uncle, their bond couldn't be broken. So when Judith sets out to keep her word to be with Francis Catherine when she gives birth to her first baby, it only seems natural that she go. The Scots that came to escourt her couldn't believe at first that she'd even keep her word, much less actually laugh at them for thinking so!

When she first met the Laird Iain Maitland, she was overwhelmed by his size and handsomeness, but it soon turned into trust and more.

The only thing that threatened to spoil her happiness was the secret of her true lineage. Her father was Laird of clan McLean ,that was feuding with the Maitland's. Could she keep her secret or would it matter after all?

This is an excellent book. It keeps you laughing of course as is Julie Garwood's style, and the characters really get you rooting for them in their sometimes silliness! This is also the first book in the story that follows with the now released Ransom. I can't wait to read the next story!
