The Prize

Nicholaa was left to guard her castle and home from the invading Normans. Three times she'd turned the warriors back with her arrows and smart thinking, but when the giant Royce came to her holding, it didn't take long to see it would be different this time. Even though she felled him with a stone, just like David and Goliath, he wasn't stopping from breeching the walls.

From deception to hiding, Nicholaa is able to escape her capture for two months, only then to be taken to London as a "prize" for the Norman king to give to one of his loyal Vassals. Legend of Nicholaa's bravery has spread to the courts and in a wild turn of events she is given the chance to choose her own husband from the king's men. The only one she can think of turning to is Royce. After all, he's been with her for 2 months now and she knows him well enough to know he's a patient man and gentle with her, and of course not to mention he makes her pulse to triple time when he's around !

But someone wants the king thrown out and his followers killed, and Nicholaa is approached to do the deed ! Only turning to Royce will solve the problems that face her and only Royce can help her make sense of what's going on.

Another great Garwood book that I couldn't put down. I really enjoy her stories and highly recommend anything she's written (that I"ve read so far. :)
