The Perfect Mistress
Trained in the best school, taught the education of a well rounded lady, Gabrielle was being prepared for something she had no desire for, to be the perfect mistress. Her mother and her grandmother and the ladies of her family before that were brought up in to be the prize of a man. But she didn't want it! She had to find a way out of what she was being prepared for, and when she comes across Pierce St. James, she feels she has her answer.
All they must do is pose as lovers and her mother will be satisfied and then she can get on with the task of finding a husband, a real life, something stable. The only problem is that Pierce is more than he appears to be, he's someone she can share with, spend time with and care about, and it makes trying to find someone who is up to his standards very difficult.
And when she finally lets her passions lead her and straight into Pierce's arms, she's caught like a bird in a cage of fatherly fury for her innocence and her and Pierce are forced to wed.
Will she ever regain the friend she had? Or can Pierce ever overcome his fear of actually loving someone to accept what Gabrielle is offering him? Two people who are trying to run from what they've been given have never been more perfectly matched.
A wonderful story of two people who want the same thing in life without realizing it. They set out to help each other with separate plans, only to end up helping each other to come closer together.
