Honor's Splendour

Julie Garwood

pub. 1987

She was a pawn. She held no value. She had to escape. Those were the thoughts of Madelyne as she planned to help the warlord who was held captive by her trecherous brother. She had to help him or he'd surely die, and maybe, just maybe he could help her escape to a safe haven of distant family. Only later did she find that she was the captive of the man she just set free.

He had meant to take her and hold her, but after the kindness she showed to him he could do no more than keep her with him and see she remained safe. An innocent lass who tried so hard to hide her emotions from everyone, yet couldn't keep what was in her eyes from Duncan as he learned her innermost secrets.

In his care she blossomed and grew to the woman she was meant to be. She voiced her opinion without the fear of retribution, and she showed her emotions without fear of abuse. She was safe in his care, this Wolf, who'd shown her a whole new life that she'd always craved, and now had.

Between them grew a strong bond that brought about the healing of more than one family, and the love of more than one person. A passionate combination of tenderness and laughter, the couple makes their way to promises kept.

a wonderful story, though not as fast paced as the Scottish stories of Ms. Garwood, still a good read. Very passionate and loving, and at times i even had to push back tears. highly recommended. :)
