RAIN

He sits here alone in that cold dark room
The rain steadily beating against the window pane
A thousand thoughts seem to flood through his head
So confused, so scared, so alone.

He thinks back on happier times
He used to laugh, and love and have fun
In the beginning she consumed his every though
Much like she does now, but oh so different.

People say its better to have loved and lost
Then to never have loved at all
But he knows this is false
And his thoughts drift off again

He gave her his heart
His mind, body and soul
It was nothing but a lie
And he sits here alone and listens to the rain beating against the window.

He holds in his hand a bible that he has
He thinks that maybe it has the answers to all of his pain
He remembers what his pastor said, that what we want isn't always what God wants
And God will take care of him no matter what.

He hopes these words to be true
Yet the doubt still remains there inside his head
Finally he can take the pain no more
His thoughts drift off to ending it all, his hand holding the bottle of pills.

He breaks down and cries begging God to please hear him
And inside him a dam breaks and the tears and the pain flows out
He drops to his knees and asks God to save him, to hear his cries
And inside his heart he knows God does.

And he rises to his feet
He notices the rain and the storm has stopped
And new hope starts to flood his thoughts
And finally he has peace to go on into the world.

He has learned a valuable lesson on this cold rainy night
No matter what pain, what hurt she caused
That God was always there for him
And will never forsake him.

But in the back of his mind
The doubts still linger
And the fear still haunts his dreams at night
And he wonders if it will ever go away.
