"Here is adventure. Here is romance. Here is mystery. Tropical rivers - silently flowing into the unknown. The unbelievable splendor of exotic flowers ... the eerie sound of the jungle ... with eyes that are always watching. Walt Disney |
The Adventureland Entrance Sign, Complete With Crossed Elephant Tusks
- Bill Evans, former Director of Landscape Design at WDI, described the apparently chaotic but meticulously planned plant life in Adventureland as such: "If we succeeded in doing a really good job out there in the jungle, it appeared like we had nothing to do with it!" (The E-Ticket, Spring 1996)
- Adventureland's location within the park was chosen to take advantage of a pre-existing group of eucalyptus trees that served as a wind-break for the orange groves that once covered the property. These trees and a pair of large palms that stood before the home of an orange grove farmer now blend into the tropical growth. (Walt Disney's Disneyland) - search for it on amazon.com
