Ingredients:
1 tbsp. butter
1 cup onion, thinly sliced
3/4 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. olive oil
1 tsp. lemon juice
2 cloves garlic, crushed
1/4 tsp. pepper
2 lb. flank steak
Directions:
Score the steak by cutting very shallow marks on both flat sides in a crisscross pattern, about 2" apart over the entire steak.
Melt butter in skillet. Cook and stir onions and 1/4 tsp. of the salt until the onions are tender. Keep warm over low heat.
Stir together oil, lemon juice, garlic, 1/2 tsp. salt, and pepper. Brush meat with mixture and broil or grill 5 minutes or until brown. Turn meat, brush with mixture and cook another 5 minutes for a rare steak. Cook longer if desired, brushing with mixture.
Cut meat across the grain at a slanted angle into slices. Serve with salted onions.
