Frequently Asked Questions for Stacy's Little Stars Childcare

How long have you been caring for children?
I have worked with children since 1994 in day care centers, as a nanny and as a home child care provider. I am a mom, a stepmom, and an aunt. I have also worked in church child care and vacation bible school over the years.

Do you have a current state license?
Yes, I have been licensed by the state since 2003.

Do you have other accreditations?
I have my BA in Psychology which includes Child Development and small group leadership.

How many children do you enroll at one time?
It depends on the ages of the children in my care at the time. I am licensed for up to 12 children with an assistant, though I do not have an assistant at this time. Typically I care for five or less children at a time.

Can I bring my child in for a pre-enrollment visit?
Yes, I welcome and encourage that.

Do you have emergency training?
As a licensed home child care provider I keep current on First Aid and CPR training. I have also passed a class on blood borne pathogen safety.

Do you have a daily schedule?
Yes, we have a daily schedule that offers both structure and flexibility. A schedule helps the day to flow more smoothly, allows the children to anticipate upcoming events, and aids in achieving a variety of goals. We follow our schedule to the best of our ability, keeping in mind that anything can happen when children are involved!

Are your toys and activities age-appropriate?
Yes, we have a variety of toys and crafts for all ages.

Do you let the children watch television?
I prefer that the children do not watch TV during daycare hours. We may watch a movie if we are unable to go outside due to weather conditions. TV/movie time is closely monitored and is primarily educational-style programming.

Do you allow smoking in the house?
We do not allow smoking anywhere on our property. State law mandates that no one may smoke within 25 feet of any door during business hours.

Are the doors secure so strangers can't just walk in?
Our doors are always locked but you are welcome to visit any time!

Do you provide breakfast, lunch, and a snack?
Yes, I am a member of the USDA Food Program and serve meals that meet the daily requirements of the children. I am reimbursed for my food by the state so there is no extra charge to parents for food served.

Where do the children sleep?
Each child has their own nap mat or play pen depending on the age of the child. Nap/rest time is a part of our daily schedule as young children need to rest each day. Napping is not required, but resting is. Children may relax with books if they do not need a nap.

Do you have references that I may contact?
Yes, I do. You may have those upon request.

What is your discipline policy?
I maintain a positive discipline policy, which focuses on prevention, redirection, consistency and praise for good behavior. The children are explained the rules of the childcare home frequently, so they are all familiar with the guidelines. 1
