This
sample FOCUS program demonstrates how to create batch
transactions to fill in the financial aid tracking
information (screen 306 in the SIS on-line system).
First, a little bit of background on the financial aid
process. Before a student is awarded financial aid, they
must fill out the Free
Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
Once this is done and the processed information is
returned back to the institution, it has to be checked to
see which items a student needs to have on file with the
financial aid office (mostly copies of tax returns, etc).
This used to be done by hand, but hey this is the 90s,
let the computer do it! :-) The FOCEXEC presented in this
example creates a batch transaction once the FASFA
information is received from the Department of Education. This
could alert the student that they need to submit an institutional financial aid
application. |
