This FOCUS program updates the bad check counter (field AA760 on screen 404) whenever a return check penalty is placed on a student's account. This is similar to the charge a bank (e-mail me for details on the really cool checking account I have) imposes whenever a person passes a 'bad' check. The change is done via SIS batch transactions (which are processed by the batch maintenance cycle).
