This FOCUS program is a substitute for SIS's MBR360 program. It creates a Word data source, which is used to generate an Admissions' missing requirement letter. This way, you can produce great looking letters. You know, the kind that don't look like they came from a computer; but everyone knows they did. The disadvantage in doing this is that SIS screen 207 is not updated. Also, you will notice in the code how test data is handled differently since this is an "OR" situation. For example, taking the SAT "or" ACT would fulfill this requirement. In addition, you will need to set up two DECODE files : one to translate the major value and one to translate the requirement value. These are needed if you do not want to use the default DBD translations. Finally, once you open the data source into Microsoft Word, use "|" as the field delimiter and "*" as the record delimiter. Hopefully, these two characters don't appear in any of the student data.
