QUR’ANIC VERSES RELATING TO THE END OF THIS WORLD

In Qur’an a number of signs are given describing various events which will take place on the day of the end of the world. These are described under various headings, as under.

THE EARTH

Verse 14:48      When the Earth will be changed to a different earth and the heavens as well,

Verse 56:4        The earth shall be shaken with severe shaking

Verse 73:14      (It will take place) When the earth with all its mountains will be in a violent commotion, and the mountains will crumble into heaps of shifting sand.

Verse 79:6        The Day on which the quake shall cause a violent commotion,

Verse 84:3        And when the Earth is flattened out (meaning no hills or mountains can be seen)

Verse 84:4        And (the Earth) will cast forth all that is within her and becomes empty

Verse 99:1        When the Earth will be shaken to her utmost convulsion

Verse 99:2        And the Earth shall bring out all her inner burdens

Verse 99:3        The man shall say: “What is the matter with her?”

THE HEAVENS

Verse 21:104            The day that we roll up the heavens like a scroll rolled up for books

Verse 25:25      On that day when the heavens shall burst asunder with clouds

Verse 44:10      Wait for the day when the sky will pour down visible smoke.

Verse 52:9        On that day, heaven will shake violently

Verse 55:37      (It will take place) When the heaven will burst and will become red like red hide.

Verse 69:16      Heaven shall split asunder, and the day shall seem flimsy.

Verse 70:8        The day when the sky will become as molten copper (or brass, or lead,)

Verse 77:9        When the heaven will cleft asunder,

Verse 78:19      And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors (or gates)

Verse 81:11      When the heaven will be stripped bare;

Verse 82:1        When the heaven will cleft asunder;

Verse 84:1        When heaven will split asunder,

THE MOUNTAINS, RIVERS / SEAS

Verse 18:47      Day when We will set the mountains in motion and you will see the Earth as a barren waste;

Verse 20:105   They ask you as to what will happen to the mountains. Tell them: "My Rabb will crush and scatter them like a fine dust”.

Verse 20:106   He will turn the earth into a plain leveled ground,

Verse 20:107   Wherein you will see neither any curve nor crease.

Verse 27:88      These mountains which you see and think are firmly fixed, will pass away like clouds.

Verse 52:10      And the mountain will travel around.

Verse 56:5        And the mountains shall be made to crumble with awful crumbling,

Verse 56.6        And become like scattered dust.

Verse 69:14      And the Earth with all its mountains will be lifted up and crushed into pieces with a single stroke

Verse 70:9        And the mountains will be like tufts of wool;

Verse 73:14      On the day when the Earth with all its mountains will be in a violent commotion, and the mountains will crumble into heaps of shifting sand.

Verse 77:10      The mountains will be scattered like dust,

Verse 78:20      And the mountains shall be set in motion to vanish as if they had been a mirage.

Verse 81:3        And when the mountains are made to vanish;

Verse 81:6        And when the oceans will be set ablaze;

Verse 82:3        And when the oceans are suffered to burst forth;

Verse 101:5      And the mountains are like colorful carded wool.

THE SUN, MOON AND THE STARS

Verse 75:8        And the Moon will be darkened;

Verse 75:9        And the Sun and the Moon will be brought together.

Verse 77:8        When the stars will lose their light,

Verse 81:1        When the Sun will cease to shine;

Verse 81:2        When the stars will loose their luster;

Verse 82:2        When the planets (or stars?) are dispersed,

MISCELLANEOUS

Verse 36:49      What they are waiting for is a single blast, which will seize them while they will be yet disputing among themselves.

Verse 50:41      And listen on the day when the caller will call out from a place quite near,

Verse 50:42      The Day when the people will hear the mighty blast in reality;

Verse 75:7        Well, it will come when the sight shall be dazed,

Verse 78:18      The day when the Trumpet shall be sounded

Verse 80:33      When there comes the deafening blast,

Verse 81:4        When the ten-month pregnant she-camels will be left unattended;

Verse 81:5        And when the wild beasts are herded together,

Verse 81:7        And when the souls will be coupled;

Verse 81:12      And when the blazing fire (Hell) will be set to blaze,

Verse 81:13      And when the garden (Paradise) will be brought near

Verse 82:4        And when the Graves are overturned;
