Original Stainless Steel SCIP Instructor Certification Card

The first SCIP Instructor Seminar was held in 1963. A rigorous swimming examination was given, as well as a rough written examination. Out of the original 75 applicants, only 52 qualified as SCIP instructors. An instructor's manual was prepared for them, and each received a stainless steel I.D. card, like the one shown above, in addition to the regular certificate of merit (diploma). Future SCIP Instructor Seminars were conducted on a systematic basis.
