Gloom releases another great grind/thrash 7", this one from the already well defined Kungfu Rick. 8 full songs on this release give plenty to listen to, although some tracks get somewhat monotonous. Much like other earlier KFR releases, the vocals are the most noticable part of the recording. There's great variation between the low, raw growls and parched, dry, higher yells, while the rhythm section (which is very prominent, pretty precise drumming on this record) rumbles on & every once & awhile, blasts into a dance part. Standout tracks include "Statues To Stones, Soldiers To Bones", "Tuning In To The Tuning Peg", and "The Caucasion Persuasion". Yet a common problem with a lot of thrash is shown here on this record - sometimes it can get a little monotonous. The lyrics make up for that though. Decidedly anti-war and anti-frat boy, this record showcases KFR's ability to create colorful lyrics with a purpose. Solid recording overall.
