Fugazi's sound has been redefined time and time again, from tuned down, light, progressive rock to all out, full on, noisy art punk. It appears that this teaser to The Arguement is no exception.
Side A on this record contains the title track, Furniture. Even at first listen, this track is definately up there with my favorite Fugazi songs. Starting off with a choppy riff and a drum & bass verse, McKaye chants lyrics that really set off the chorus, which is a bit more of the later, more traditional Fugazi sound. You can see a live preformance of this song on the Fugazi DVD (which I absolutely reccommend), and it's definately awesome.
The b-side starts off with one of Fugazi's infamous instrumentals. Fugazi is, of course, on of the very few rock bands who can pull off an instrumental and still make it interesting. Entitled "Number 5" this song contains approximately 3 great melodies, while still managing to build up intensity in between, with high guitar screams and breaks. The final song, "Hello Morning" features Guy on vocals and shows off Fugazi's ability to make fun, danceable music, while still bringing some of the newer sound this EP was intended to show.
Overall, some of Fugazi's best songs, in my opinion.
