i did my best to pin down the sound of these crazy bastards in my review of their two seven-inches, but the 50-minute cd includes some even more obtuse music (for the uninitiated, it may approach noise territory). even the most traditional songs on this beast would probably bring about the immediate expulsion of most of the body fluids of a typical radio rock listener.
the first two tracks - "take home lesson" and "lost pile" - reveal a mastery of the art-spazz ethic of the seven-inches, but the band is clearly not content to remain in this style. later tracks bring in keyboard sounds, tape effects, and electronics, never ceasing to surprise. this sometimes results in a less accessible sound, but repeated listens have persuaded me to enjoy these cuts as much or more than the others (if you groove on accessibility, eleventh symphony is probably not your band anyway). if nothing else, it is fascinating to hear the crazy shit this band comes up with.
to acquire a hand-packaged copy, or just to hear a sampling of what the band is capable of, mosey on over to the website. it does a body good.
