Shazia

As the director of Scimitar Dance Company, Shazia has been belly dancing since October 1994. She comes from a strong dance background including jazz, clogging, gymnastics, folk, ballet, modern, ballroom, and swing. Shazia has danced with local Salt Lake bands Kairo by Night, Desert Wind, and Fat Paw, and is a former member of Kismet Dance Company. She enjoys performing this ancient art form with a more modern twist and excels in the Egyptian cabaret style. Shazia is best known for her fantastic & vivacious drum song choreographies. Shazia encourages dancers to enjoy who they are, relax, and to put your whole soul into the dance. Let that inner dance out. Shazia is very proud of the Scimitar Dance Company and the fantastic start that the troupe has had. She looks forward to many more years of performing and fun.
