The plan called for a band floating high in the earth's atmosphere that would completely circumference the earth at the equator. Since for the band to fall to the earth at any one point would mean that the band would have to lift away from the earth at the opposite side of the globe, the band would remain aloft. The earth's rotation to the east would make it appear that the band was moving west!
MY PIPE DREAM
If we lay an eighteen foot diameter pipe out, east to west, for 24 miles, more than 700 tons of air in the pipe will slough back of the rotation of the earth, a wind
will start inside of the pipe to the speed of 500 mph
THE WIND WILL BLOW BECAUSE THE AIR WON'T MOVE!!!
The reason the pipe needs to be 24 miles long is because the troposphere is about 8 miles deep weighing 2000lbs
per sq foot at ground level which is the largest marshaling of weight in the troposhere. In a 24 mile pipe there would be about 6000lbs of air per square ft.

If the pipe were like a hula hoop that went around the earth, resting on the ground,
east to west, the air in the pipe would slough because there would be 700,000 tons of air in the pipe.If the pipe reached half way round the earth the air would slough because it would weigh 350,000 tons. If the pipe is 24 miles long the air in the pipe will out weigh the troposphere by 3 to 1. The air will slough!!!
I see these sloughs as something like siphons.

MELDRUM TUNNEL
The Meldrum Tunnel was begun in 1898 with the goal of permitting railroad traffic from Telluride Colorado to the established tracks in the Ironton mining area to the east. The Treasury Tunnel was started from the Ironton side, the two never joined,but they both met mine tunnels that are part of the Black Bear Mine making
a 6 mile long body of air under the Rocky Mountians. A
stiff breeze blows out of the Meldrum Tunnel westward!

SUTRO TUNNEL
To ventilate and drain the lower levels of the Comstock Lode near Virginia City,NV.
Adolph Sutro in 1859-78 dug a 4 mile long tunnel from the Carson river west to Gold Hill. As locals to the area recount, on the day the tunnel was finished much was made of letting Adolph use a pick to break the tunnel into the mines. When he broke thru,a blast of air nearly knocked him on into the mine thru the little hole. This happened because the rotation of the earth had
built up the air pressure, 4 miles deep and west,back of the rotation of the globe in the tunnel!
ENSYPHAGATION
Siphons are a simple tool that allows us to lower water over an adjoining height. We can not siphon water uphill by the definition of the term siphon. However if we attach a isolation chamber the size of a soup can to the apex of a garden hose being used to siphon with a tee some hose and a valve into the can we can exchange the air in the can for water. This does not stop the siphon. The air goes up into the flow of the siphon and is washed out of the lower end. This is ensyphagation making the siphon more than a tool. This
makes the siphon a motor. It lifts water! Ensyphagation and sloughing air bodies in pipes are both kinetic art, both use prime movers that are not mainstream energy sources.
BLACK HAT PUZZLE
A good and wise young king had just inherited the throne from his father who had been a good and wise king in his day. The old king had 3 prisoners, one a blind man, in his prison for minor crimes. The new king thought it would be best to free these prisoners. He devised this puzzle for them to solve and win their freedom. 5 small skullcaps were made,3 black 2 white. The prisoners were to line up facing the king. One of the 5 caps was to be put on the head of each of the prisoners so as the prisoner
never saw his own cap or the 2 left over caps. The king told the prisoners, if you can guess the color of your cap you go free! If you guess wrong you will be killed tomorrow. If you do not venture a guess you will be returned to prison, unless the blind man can tell me the color of his cap
being blind if he can tell me the color of his you all go free!! How did the prisoners win their freedom?
BLACK HAT SOLUTION
The prisoners let the blind man make his guess last because, when the king asked the first prisoner what color hat he had on, had the other two hats being worn been the 2 white hats he would know that he wore a black hat, the other two prisoners would know they had on white hats. If the first prisoner did not guess the second man would know the
first prisoner did not see two white hats. If the second man looked at the blind man and saw a white hat
he would know that he wore a
black hat because the first man did not see 2 white hats.
If the second man deduced he wore a black hat it could only mean the blind man wore a white hat. If the second man did not guess the blind man would know he wore a black hat. This puzzle is on this site because like the puzzle my pipe dream can be envisioned mentally.
