Chad's Summary: After the suicide of Sgt. Barber (Link Baker), Dr. Daniel Jackson is recalled back to the SGC base. While on the planet, Jackson was studying a Goa'uld device which can project lights on to the ceiling. Back on base, he begins to act strangely demanding to return to the planet. Just before SG-1 embarks, Daniel is found in front of the safety railing on his balcony. He is taken to the infirmary. O'Neill and the rest of SG-1 go to the planet and are mesmerized by the device Daniel described. O'Neill meets Loren (Kristian Ayer). Daniel lapses into a coma, and O'Neill returns to the SGC with some samples for Dr. Fraiser. Teal'c befriends Loren. After some tests on O'Neill, Dr. Fraiser discovers that the device acts like a narcotic. He takes Jackson back to the planet to prevent Jackson's death. He soon recovers from the coma, and O'Neill wants to shut the device off. Daniel uses a remote control device to turn off the light projection mechanism. O'Neill questions Loren about his parents who left him long ago. O'Neill, Carter, and Teal'c go in search of Loren's parents. Teal'c discovers the remains of Loren's parents. Loren thinks he killed his parents, but O'Neill tells him that their deaths were not Loren's fault. Carter and Jackson discover that the device can be shut down in stages with no harm to SG-1 or Loren. They can all go to Earth in about three weeks.
