Plot Outline:
On a planet with a Mongol type culture, Carter (Amanda Tapping) finds that women are not equal to men. The rest of the team discovers a new anesthetic that works almost instantly. Abu (Jorge Vargas) abducts Carter in order to trade her for his love Nya (Crystal Lo). The two lovers are caught in the middle between two opposing tribes. Carter attempts to escape on horseback, but she is soon recaptured. The team barter to gain Carter’s freedom, thusly, O’Neill gives away his gun in exchange for Carter. Carter must fight to the death in order to free the women of the planet from oppression and slavery. However, Carter does not kill her opponent Turghan (Cary—Hiroyuki Tagawa). The Name Game:
· This episode of Stargate SG-1, “Emancipation”, shares its’ title with a season three episode of Gene Roddenberry’s Earth: Final Conflict (1997 to 2002) which was originally broadcast on October 30, 1999.
Destination:
· Simarka --- (P3X–593) is a planet with topoography similar to the steppe grasslands and forests of Earth. The people on the planet are related to the Mongol people, of Earth, known as the Chagatai. The people of Simarka are known as the Shavadai.

· Actors Cary–Hiroyuki Tagawa (Turghan) from this episode, Gary Jones (Walter Harriman) from “Children of the Gods” et al, and Kirsten Robek (Lt. Astor) from “Divide and Conquer” all appeared in the same episode of Poltergeist: The Legacy (1996 to 1999).The Poltergeist: The Legacy episode entitled “The Internment” was originally broadcast on July 17, 1998. The episode featured Tagawa as Sam Tanaka, Jones as Ed Barker, and Robek as Lydia.
