Plot Outline:
After a female Air Force Sgt. (Rachael Hayward) is captured by a hostile alien force, Col. Jack O’Neill (Richard Dean Anderson) is recalled into active duty to investigate. On the planet Abydos, Dr. Daniel Jackson (Michael Shanks) informs the team that the Stargate can provide interstellar travel to other planets besides Abydos. Daniel Jackson’s wife Sha’re (Vaitaire Bandera) and her brother Skaara (Alexis Cruz) are taken as hosts for a race of parasites known as the Goa’uld. Back on Earth, Col. O’Neill is given command of an elite, special forces, team designated SG-1. In the future, the team will investigate many other planets besides Abydos. During an unsuccessful mission to rescue Dr. Jackson’s family, Major Charles Kawalsky (Jay Acovone) is invaded by a larval Goa’uld parasite. An alien named Teal’c (Christopher Judge) returns to Earth with the SG-1 and SG-2 teams. à Plot Outline by Chad C.

· Abydos --- has a 36 hour day, thusly, the Abydos day is 12 hours longer than an Earth day. The planet also has a desert—like topography such as Earth’s Egypt. Abydos supports an estimated population of 5,000 people. To the planet’s population, the Stargate is known as the Chaapa’ai. The SGC computer designation for Abydos is unknown.
· Chulak --- is the name of a town or village chosen as the name of the planet visited by SG teams 1 and 2. Chulak is the home of the Jaffa who serve the Goa’uld as guards and as incubators for Goa’uld larva. The planet has Earth—like woodlands and two (2) suns – a very non—Earth—like characteristic. The SGC computer designation for Chulak is unknown.
Connections:
· Actors Don S. Davis (General George S. Hammond) and Colin Cunningham (Major Paul Davis) from “A Matter of Time” also worked together on the science fiction film The 6th Day (2000). Davis appeared as Cardinal de la Jolla while Cunningham portrayed the role of Tripp.

· Actor Alexis Cruz reprises the role of “Skaara” that he originated in the Stargate (1994) feature film.
· Actor Eric Schneider is credited as “Doctor” for this episode only. In later episodes, he is credited as “Dr. McKenzie”.
