Summary: The Enterprise crew discover a comet. Meanwhile, T'Pol receives a message from the Vulcan High Command. The crew decides to mine the comet for a rare element called Icellium. Archer assigns Reed and Mayweather to the mission. A Vulcan ship arrives to observe the Enterprise which does not make Archer to happy. Reed and Mayweather explore the Comet. Archer orders a secret message, sent to T'Pol, decoded. Archer sends a message to a fourth grade class back on Earth. He assigns different questions, asked by the students, to his crew to answer. Mayweather builds a snow man on the comet while Reed makes the eyes, nose, and mouth of the snow man. The decoded message from the Vulcans is a private message for T'Pol. Tucker tells T'Pol that he knows about the message. Despite T'Pol's usual absence of emotion, she is not pleased. Archer invites Vanik (William Utay) on board the Enterprise for dinner. Vanik's visit does not turn out as Archer had hoped. T'Pol informs Tucker that Vulcan Marriages are arranged well in advance. Tucker does not understand the Vulcan custom of arranging marriages when the bride and groom are very young. The messages referred to T'Pol's wedding. After they blow up a piece of the comet, Reed and Mayweather mine for the Icellium. After the mining is complete, Mayweather is injured. Reed helps Mayweather to the shuttle pod. They enter the pod and try to take off. The pod falls beneath the surface of the comet. The crew attempts a rescue, but they fail. The pod falls again, and Vanik uses a tractor beam to rescue both the pod and the crew inside. Disregarding Vulcan custom, T'Pol decides to stay on the Enterprise.
