War's End
A crippled mech wanders off the battlefield to die. Its wounded pilot bivouacs at the base of a shattered leg and his scavenger cleaned bones remain.
The story behind this diorama: I was building a little Wave 1/60th Marshy Dog Votom and the plastic was so brittle, pieces kept shattering. So I decided on a battle damaged mech in desolate scene. The terrain is regular model railroad materials and the bits of wire hanging out of the mech is unraveled twine. Innards of the mech are fudged with mangled up wire mesh. The skeletal pilot is the original figure with the face trimmed down and the eye sockets hollowed out. His tent is tissue paper and toothpicks. This vignette took third in sci fi dioramas at NIMO 2001 but even so I want to rework it a little with better battle damage and more scenery such as tree stumps.
