After taking the carpet off, I found the original heart pine. However, it was covered with paint splotches.

After a month of scraping and sanding, I had it ready to finish.

After sanding with number 500 paper, the knots' texture showed thru very nicely.

I put a coat of minwax semi-gloss and it came out very glossy.

So I sanded it lightly and used Minwax Satin for the next 2 coats.

The finished floor compliments the furniture.

Even the dogs think it is inviting!

Current projects for master bedroom -

I found this great heavy material at a shop in Spanish Fort near Mobile. It was the end of the bolt and I got it for $8 a yard. I got enough to do full drapes behind the bed and recover the easychair.

This fireplace is on the west wall of the bedroom. There is a concrete pallet coming out a foot into the room. A flooring shop gave me 4 granite tiles and I put 3 of them over the concrete pallet. They are a speckled green so the paint I'm using for the walls will match the lighter green tint.
