A Safe Safari

You may have heard of the metaphorical "paper tiger"?
Here we have many paper denizens of African biomes.
Perfectly safe, although very large
and all over the walls in our hall.

He comes from a home in a desert biome.

This is a very small desert animal.

Meet one of the cuter rhinos from the grasslands (savanna).

Another resident of the savanna, apparently a dissatisfied resident.

And...... a really large resident of the savanna.
Those red things are heat waves. You knew that.
Mr. and Mrs. Resident of the savanna, he seems pleasanter than she.

Then we fly over to the rain forest.

They seem surprised, but glad to see us.

Well...this one is showing teeth.....

Speaking of teeth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The rain forest may be hot, but you don't want to get into the river!
Could this be the crocodile who gave the elephant's child its new nose?
A biome is an environment that supports the life of its residents.
In Africa you could visit the desert (Sahara....Kalahari....),
the sahel- a borderland between the desert and the grasslands,
the savanna which is grassland,
and the rain forest.
Although we tend to think of Africa as a place
where jungles stretch from coast to coast
and where Tarzan is swinging from lush, green vines,
most of Africa is pretty dry.
As the deserts grow,
as the human population grows,
African animals have less and less space.
The big grassland animals and the rainforest animals may disappear.
