MONROE COUNTY FAIR DEMOLITION DERBY (Full size)
INSPECTION AND REGISTRATIONS AT NORTH END OF ARENA, 4:00 PM UNTIL 1
HOUR BEFORE SCHEDULED START OF EVENT (NO LATE REGISTRATION OR INSPECTIONS.)
A. The Monroe County Demolition Derby is promoted as an unusual spectator attraction. In the interest of safety and the promotion of family values event, anyone entering as a participant (driver or support staff) or spectator must obey all rules and regulations.
B. Each driver must fill out an entry form. All drivers must supply their own car. Only one entry per person unless other wise specified.
C. Each driver must be 18 yrs. Of age and hold a valid Indiana drivers license. Drivers under the age of 18 must have a notarized release signed by legal parent/guardian.
D. The Monroe County Demolition Committee or their appointed representatives, reserves the right to approve or reject any and all entries.
E. One driver and one mechanic will be admitted with each paid entry. Each entry fee is $20.00 includes one t-shirt.
F. No cars permitted of track before their assigned event. Succeeding heats are to be lined up inside fenced area while proceeding heat is on the track.
G. Cars may be re-inspected at any time and/or as many times as promoter decides is necessary.
H. Promoter reserves the right to assign heats.
I. Monroe County Fairgrounds is a NO ALCOHOL area. Anyone caught with alcoholic beverages shall be ejected from the  Fairgrounds.
Participation Regulations
1. Any stock hardtop auto or station wagon is allowed. No Imperials, trucks, jeeps, limo's, 4-wheel drives, or ambulances will be allowed.
2. Safety belts, dot approved helmet, goggles or face shield mandatory. Approved safety glass will be allowed.
3. All glass, trim, and upholstery must be removed before entering fairgrounds. Autos must be swept clean of all debris and loose parts. No mirrors allowed.
4. Gas tanks: ORIGINAL GAS TANK MUST BE REMOVED. A marine type gas tank to be mounted in the back seat area with secure metal strapping. ALL LINES TO HAVE LEAK PROOF CONNECTIONS (such as fittings and hose clamps.) Taped hose allowed if new or of good quality. Electric fuel pumps allowed but must have shut off switch of dash. 5 gallons of pump gas maximum allowed. All carbs. Must have breather covers.
5.Any motor or transmission may interchanged of mounts remain in stock locations.
6. Fire wall may not be cut or notched. All holes in fire wall must be patched with sheet metal or aluminum.
7. Radiators must remain in stock position and mount. No part of any cooling system allowed behind firewall.
8. Suspension must remain free with minimum of 4" free travel. Spring jacks blocked shocks, air shocks, wedging not allowed.
9. Brakes must remain operable at the beginning of each event.
10. Batteries must be relocated to front passenger area of car with secure mounts and non-flammable cover. Bungee or tarp straps not allowed.
11. Tires must have D.O.T. stamp and numbers. Tires may be filled.
12. Hood and deck lids must remain operable for initial inspection. Hoods must have 12" x 20" holes on each side of carburetor.  Hoods and trunks allowed a maximum of 6 hold downs using #9 wire, or 3/8" max. chain. A maximum of 3 locations from core support to bumper. Must have front half of hood at all times.
13. Exhaust pipes penetrating hood must point upward not towards front bumper or driver.
14. Doors may be fastened shut with 3/8" chain or #9 wire only, 2 locations per seam. Drivers door only may be welded. Driver door may be plated with steel plate that may not extend more than 6" beyond door seam. Must have a min. of 8- �" dia. bolts.
15. Body seams may not be bolted, screwed, or welded. Cutting of fenders for tire clearance is allowed. Rubber body mounts may be replaced with washers, any bolts that are replaced must be same dia. as bolt removed with a max of 3" x 3" x 1/4" washers on top and bottom. Body and bumpers must remain in stock position. Bumpers shocks may be welded but no more than half way around shock tubes, or chained. Non-chock bumper plate (4" x 4" flat plate) that bolts back of bumper to frame may have 4" weld total all around (ex. 4-1"  welds or 2-2"  welds or 1-4"  weld).
16. Roll cages or bars are allowed. Cages and bars must remain in passenger area. Cages and bars to be welded or bolted to top of frame rails. No bars allowed further than 8"  behind drivers seat.
17. Windshield area must have #9 wire, chain, or metal strapping from roof to cowling behind hood to prevent hood from entering drivers compartment.
18. Drivers door only may be painted white, No obscenities or rude gestures allowed on car. Car must have 18"  high numbers on each side, and a 24"  number on roof.
19. All decisions by officials shall be final, NO APPEALS.
20. Only drivers participating on track to remain on track at conclusion of that heat, consi, or feature.
21. Drivers may use front end of their car to hit with.
22. Cutting torches or welders in pit area must have fire suppression of some type I.E. fire extinguisher, pressure water, sand ext.
23. Welding only in these places; drivers door, bumper shock tubes, motor and trans mounts, roll cage to top of frame, ring and pinion gears, rims.  Any other welds will result in disqualification.
24. If it is not clearly addressed in these rules it will not be allowed.
Disqualifications
Cars may be disqualified during competition for any of the following (but not limited to):
A. Intentionally hitting if an opponents drivers door.
B. Intentionally hitting another vehicle with a head-on impact, where both vehicles are moving towards each other and hit hood ornament to hood ornament.
C. Blatant team driving will result in all those participating in team driving being disqualified. This will be a judgment call by officials and as all ruling of officials shall be final.
D. Intentionally hitting a car stuck on the logs anywhere in the arena. This is considered a serious matter for crowd and volunteer safety.
E. Winners of heats or consy leaving arena before being re-inspected.
F. Intentionally pushing another car out of arena through entrance or exit or holding them from re-entering.
G. Disobeying, arguing, or use of profanity to any official or volunteer may constitute dismissal for the entire event and grounds for expulsion from Fairgrounds and consideration for permanent barring form further competitions at the Monroe County Fair sponsored derbies.
H. Spilling fuel or catching fire (exhaust fire or carburetor fire that is immediately withdrawn on it?s own is excluded).
I. Flag men may disqualify any vehicle, which, in his/her opinion, constitutes a reasonable safety hazard to the driver, other drivers, or spectators.
J. The derby will be composed of individual heats and one feature, with cash purse going to the winners of each heat and grand prize going to winner of the feature. Feature demolition event will be comprised of winners and co-winners of each heat. Decision of the official judges will be final as to winners of each heat. Heats will be provided for powder puff derby (women only) based upon number of entrants. Same rules and regulations apply for powder [puff, including participation in the feature for the winner and runner-up of each heat.
K. Cars must be removed from Fairgrounds by 3:00 pm on day after show! Any cars remaining of fairgrounds past deadline shall be disposed of by Demolition Derby Committee. Scavenging of abandoned cars strictly forbidden. Entry blanks can be picked up at the Monroe County Extension office at 117 E. 7th Street or the Fair Office the week of the fair.

RULES AND REGULATIONS

PARTICIPATION REGULATIONS
1.  Mid size cars wheelbase shall be over 100" up to 106". ( no V-8 engines allowed)
2. Mini cars any American made or Foreign made two(2) Wheel drive car. Wheelbase of 100" or less. (4 WHEEL DRIVE CARS NOT ALLOWED)(no V-8 engines allowed).
3. Safety belts, approved helmets, goggles or face shields are mandatory. Approved safety glasses.
4. All Glass and trim moldings must be removed before entering Fairgrounds. Auto must be swept clean of all debris and loose parts. No mirrors are allowed.
5. ORIGINAL GAS TANKS MUST BE REMOVED. Approved gas tank, such as marine type to be mounted in back seat area with secure meal fasteners. ALL LINES MUST HAVE LEAKPROOF CONNECTIONS (such as fittings or clamps). Taped connections not allowed. Gasoline approved rubber lines allowed if new or of good quality, otherwise metal lines with 12" max. Rubber hose connections. Electric fuel pumps allowed but have shut off switch mounted to dash, 3 gallons of fuel max. All carbs must have cover to suppress backfire flames.
6.  Body, Frame, and Bumpers to remain stock (o.e.m.). And remain in stock mounts and location. Drivers door may be plated with a min. �"  plate steel not to extendmore than 6? past door seams. Welding drovers door only is allowed. Other doors nay be wired shut with max. two strands of #9 wire per seam. Trailer hitch assemblies must be completely removed. Fire walls must remain intact with holes patched with thin sheet metal.
7.  Body seams cannot be screwed, bolted, or welded. Body mounts can be replaced with washers but must remain at stock height, replacement bolts cannot be any larger than original bolt. No supports, braces, or added metal any where on car.
8. Radiators must remain in stock position and mounts (tilting allowed). No part of any cooling system allowed behind fore wall.
9. Hood and Deck lid must remain operable for initial inspection. Car must have hood at all times. HOODS MUDT HAVE TWO 12 IN. HOLES CUT ON EACH SIDE OF CARB FOR FIRE CREW ACCESS. Hoods and trunks allowed a max. of 6 hold downs each using #9 wire only (wire is counted by single strands). Max. 6 strands of #9 wire only are allowed from core support to front bumper. Six strands allowed on rear bumper, BUT MUST NOT ATTACH TO TAILGATES/TRUNK LIDS.
10. Suspension must remain free with a min. of 4" free travel. Spring jacks, blocked shocks, wedging, reversing shackles not allowed. Air shocks must have air limes cut.
11. Batteries must be relocated to front passenger area with SECURE mounts and a non-flammable cover. Bungee or tarp straps not allowed.
12. Cars must have brakes each and every time car enters track.
13. Roll over bar only behind drivers seat 3" max. dia. pipe or 3" x 3'"square tubing. Bar must remain under roof.(bar is optional) 1 seat bar allowed max. 3" (o.d.) pipe with max. 2- 1/2" bolts with 3" x 3" x 1/4" washers through body on each side.
14. Any exhaust pipes penetrating hood must point upwards, not toward front, side, or driver.
15.  No white cars allowed. Drivers door only to be white. Cars must have BOLD 18" numbers on each side of car and BOLD 24" number of roof. No obscenities allowed on car.
16.  D.O.T. TYPE TIRES ONLY. Fenders may be trimmed for tire clearance.
17. All cars must have a vertical safety bar in windshield area (to keep hood from entering drivers area).
18. All decisions by officials shall be final. NO APPEALS.
19. Only drivers participating on track allowed to remain of track at conclusion of that heat, consy, or feature.
20. Drivers may use front ends of car to hit with. HEAD ONS (hood ornament to hood ornament) NOT ALLOWED.
21. Cutting torches or welders in pit area must have fire suppression of some type, i.e. fire extinguisher, pressurized water, sand, etc.
22. 100% pay out of entry money.  If it is not clearly addressed in these rules it is not allowed!
