| a lump in the throat sometimes I can't stand this all the cliches have come true no, I won't say it your words like a river, spilling to the grass, the sand on the beach, into my mug of tea bittersweet yes, I know I watch the lines of your face moving as you speak your eyes, your lips think of a sunset, the stars colours dying I want to say something true something to show you how much you mean to me what I see when I look at you you twist the ring on your finger yes, I know you don't need to say it it's already in your eyes I would never hurt you, never ever so I swallow the words that lump in my throat you are my friend and I savor that thought like caramel when I speak I promise I will never say those words I will smile if it kills me and you will never know |
