Time Travel

Is time travel possible? Einsteins special theory of relativity(1905) suggests that it might be, at least in a forward direction. This theory shows that time passes more slowly for someone on a moving object then it does for someone at rest. For example, say a spaceship with a small crew leaves Earth in the year 2030 and eventually reaches a velocity of seventy-five percent the speed of light(139,500 miles per second). After ten years this ship and crew reaches another star and after a year of exploring the new solar system, turns around and comes back to Earth which would be another ten years of traveling. Altogether this ship and its crew have been gone twenty-one years. The calendar on their ship says the date is 2051 but when they land and check a calendar on Earth the date might be 2060, or maybe hundreds of years later. The crew of this ship would have traveled through time to the future. This effect is called 'time dilation'. The amount of time dilation that occurred would depend on how fast the ship went and how long it maintained this speed. How can this be possible?
